I would point out that I think its unlikely it is overfilled as my local dealer is very good but I will just check this evening anyway just in case...
Very good or not its worth checking.
Most dealers use a machine where you type in the quantity and let it go.
The problem is that the book says 9.6l but this is only when completely empty of oil. Most services it's hard to get all the oil out so easy to overfill.

That being said, should need to lose all oil on a cooler change.

Have you changed fuel brands?

As above regarding the oil too, worth checking.

SW0090 is great but the cold start is a pain. I believe not all RS4s suffered.

The faulty MAF may be part to blame, I changed mine out last year as it was faulty, prob due to the years I have had the high flow filter on.
I've always used V-power, checked oil and it's certainly not overfilled. Not sure about air filter or MAF..

It's 60 seconds, not 30.
It's not a fixed length of time - it's dependent on how cold it is, as it happens until the temperature sensor reaches a threshold value.
It is on mine !
Right or wrong... winter or summer... it's bang on 60 seconds, every time.

Edit:... every time a cold-start is required, that is. Obviously if the engine's warm, there's no cold-start. So it's either 60 seconds or nothing !

Yeah I checked this evening just to make sure and definitely not overfilled. On the invoice for the work there is a few litres of oil certainly not a full change and I'm sure I read somewhere you don't need to lose all the oil and just put in enough to "prime" the cooler as it were... I could be wrong though

Mine tends to be bad when a coil is about to go and I've had 4 go in 15 months. I also believe I'm on original spark plugs and fuel filter which maybe might not help?

Be intersted to see what camberley have to say as mine will be going there soon.
They said there is an update takes slightly under half an hour to apply, can't be undone once done and sets the idle revs higher than they probably currently are. So pretty much what has already been covered on here.

But they were aware of it and can do it

I think I will try the manually keeping the idle revs higher for a bit and see how I get on....

Worth saying but oil needs to be hot and not on the plastic parts of the dip stick

Well it's definitely not a fixed length of time on mine, and yes I definitely do have 0090.

It can be as little as 15 seconds on an early Autumn morning cold start, but I've never had it as long as a minute, maybe 45 seconds on the coldest Winter morning cold start.

Hardly scientific but I've deliberately let the start up idle revs drop back to normal levels before driving off and had no lurching at all.

I've found that letting it idle for a bit or holding revs higher for a bit when first starting it seems to pretty much stop the lurching / hesitancy. I guess i'll stick with that for now. thanks for the feedback guys.
