Joesnow i think you may well have the issue, mine gave an almighty crack when it did it and could be felt through the passenger footwell floor, suppose it depends which bolt has worked loose!

I think I may have this too. I have a knocking from somewhere on the front of the car usually at low speed over bumps. Sounds like passenger side but can't be totally sure. No obvious DRC issues - fronts were replaced with 2nd gen in 2009 and no leaks that I can see. Anybody any thoughts? Cheers, Pete

yup - that sounds like it. you'll only feel it through the wheel when very very loose.
if you turn the car off and wiggle the wheel "vigourously" side to side you may hear it. Took me ages to find as it really does sound like it's coming from the suspension but it's just the way the steering rack is positioned

To check is easy enough - you'll need a socket, extension bar and a universal joint. put the extension bar on the wrench then the uni joint then the socket and you can reach easy enough.

Don't tighten too much as if it has worked loose then you should really get new bolts (they are stretchy things)

Does anybody know if the bolt is structural in holding the rack? Ie if I take the bolt out can I get it back in without the rack dropping or moving?
I *think* it's just to stop the rack moving but can't be sure.

If any of you guys are going to tighten the bolts up would you mind taking some photos to highlight exactly which bolts need attention.

22 years at it and the last 12 or so as a subby.Built the hush hush aircraft that had a hand in finding Bin Laden and then arour plated the cockpit on the royal flight aircraft etc etc for whoever pays the best lol

Share your property design interest too,im in the middle of pretty much a new build (had to leave a few exterior walls as new build wasnt allowed with planners) its the biggest project by far ive done, way above what ive done with rip out and rent jobs but im pleased with it so far.

Did this hush hush craft happen to have Piaggio P180 landing gear by any chance?? I heard rumours the military was using them, although messier-Dowty gears, piaggio hold the design rights to them... No one asked piaggio ;)

Yup - that's the one. The bolt that comes loose is right behind the glovebox area.

When it starts it'll manifest as a 'pop' when reversing. Eventually it'll rattle all the time.
