I would guess the little side single led is to make them useable in the american market where they have the corner marker lights?

I like the DS2500 on my M3 - they hold up well, even on the track. However, I find I get through them very quickly. I'll get through almost a set of pads on one track day. Not an issue on the M3 because they are cheap as chips, but they are pricey for the RS4 / RS6.

I thought the B7 already had LED. Or am I thinking of the B8?

/edit: I still reckon these are your best bet:

You're thinking of the B8, there isn't a single external LED on a stock B7.

I used to like DS2500's but found they were very very dirty

Didn't like the newer compound (DS3000 ??) as it seemed less able to cope with lighter use

Have only tried a couple of Pagids on the GT3 and found one set great on track but feckin noisy on road and the other set were just a joke and got binned as they just glazed immediately on road use, swapped to PF and they were just as good without noise or fade or glazing.

Ran PF on the track car before swapping to lightweight radial calipers and cant for the life of me remember which models of pads we ran but Alcon made some nice compounds as did Endless and I currently use Project Mu on the 180sx.

May give you some other options to find out about.

I have just been lazy to get the RS4 working again so got some Ferodos off Wallachie for right now.

Thanks, I think I will still go with the yellows but will make my mind up by tomorrow hopefully when I get a chance to go reading again.

The mission for today is to figure out exactly what is missing from the wheelwell tool-wise etc and source those parts. How it currently looks:
bootage.jpg
From what I have seen on the tinterwebz, it looks like a toolkit goes on the left (watching one on Ebay), air pump on the right, no idea on the upper right, no idea if anything goes in the two holes in the middle (phnar phnar) and looks like it is missing a cover too?

I am comparing it with this:

Thanks guys.

P.S. If any of you feel kind enough to post up the part number for your air pump etc that would be great, just to be certain before I grab the bits off Ebay.

Nope ... I'd assume the bods at Audi presume the goo and compressor negate a jack

My thought too, just confirming. What about the pic of the boot on the imola that I posted? It looks like there is a foam cover plate above the 2 big empty compartments, along with a screw down? I can see what looks like a screw down in Jon's pic, albeit a different design.

The foam missing on the imola holds the goo cannister effort , the screwdown I just lobb it in the well as well as the luggage netting which tends to be missing . I would possibly expect the foam to be battered or missing if it's been ripped out due to a water leak

Nono, I have the goo and the padding for that thanks, this is what I am on about, in red:
BatteryTrunk.jpg
BatteryTrunk.jpg (34.4 KiB) Viewed 1467 times
However, the more I look at that, the more I think that is just a solid foam section and on the B7 RS4 there is no cover above that. So, I think that that only thing I am short of now ios the screw down?

There was evidence of a slight water leak in there when I took it all out the other day but I am going to investigate it when the new clusters arrive. I also have some Carafax IDL99 floating about that I can feed in to the boot seal to guarantee that is spot on.
