Wow...didn't even know that existed as an option. Europe had some interesting stuff that we didn't

1. no reflectors in the sides of the bumpers
2. no orange reflectors in the headlights
3. bucket seats
4. super sport suspension
5. fridge
6. fat steering wheel with flat bottom

We got shafted!

Just resurrecting this slightly old thread to ask another question... I have today, fitted the AMI in place of the CD changer, and it's all working perfectly with my iPhone. Brilliant. The only issue I'm having is that the volume it sets when it turns on is pretty high. Too high really. Is there anywhere to adjust that?

There's a volume setting in one of the Engineering Mode pages, setting that to the startup volume you want works for most (but not all) people.

Thank you Dave, will investigate.

Would like to thank everyone else who contributed to this thread and others as well actually. Swapping head units and adding AMIs etc... only really possibly with communities like these where experience and knowledge can be shared. :thumb: :kissmyrings:

Tried from the test page. Annoyingly, I could set the ON volume higher than the 7 it was set at, but no lower?!! :?

Is this possible with the old RNS-E? Isn't there a maximum it'll turn on at? Really annoying for me as I set the RNS-E volume just below its distortion point (about 3 clicks before max) and then use my Alpine processor as general volume control. However I have to everytime I start the car as it always comes on at a lower volume. I'm pretty sure i asked about this before and thought it couldn't be done.

Yes, Engineering Mode is identical on the pre-2010 and 2010+ RNS-E.

Pass - everyone else that has asked this question has asked for it to turn on at a lower volume :bigblink:

Where is this engineering mode thing located? The dealer increased my phone volume to try to solve a problem I was having and now it's too loud. Would love to diy adjust it.

Don't you just turn the volume down when you're on the car phone?

To enter the engineer mode, go to the Nav screen, press and hold the top left cursor button for 5 seconds, then press and hold the top right cursor button for 5 seconds.

I have heard that the RNS 2010+ uses can to detect the speed and that therefore looses traction (in the B7) in tunnels etc. is that true and is there anyway to convert the can signal to GALA so you can avoid the problem?

Thanks Dave, seen it now, but it just tells me what the volume is currently set at. I don't see any way of adjusting. If if turn the volume up to lets say max (30) then go come out of that menu, turn the volume down then go back in, it just shows me what te volume is currently set at.
