If the discs have been designed with holes then surely keeping them clear means they are working as the have been designed? And if they are blocking up, even only a bit, then they aren't working as we'll as they could?

Hence why I clean mine out about twice a year, only doing about 3k miles, and they clean out in ten minutes, very easily with a 4mm drill.

Also since I have started doing this, the next time I go to do it, there is less build up to drill out.
not stupid but where do you stop... after 1k miles oil isn't working as best it could... tyres are best when new... don't get started on carbon... ;)

As long as there is a gap for the gases it'll work fine. It won't do any harm cleaning but it's not something I'd obsess about as long as you are using the brakes in the manner to which they are intended.

How do I clean the back holes while rotor is on as there is a guard which restricts access?
