Bit of a mission for me tbh , im trying to convince my mate who did clutch but think that job has finished him off haha. Just ordered top mounts to for £55 full set so still under budget from £800 odd going rate, need to get done as the drc hydro oil has ruined my driveway with all this rain. Its everyhwere

How much the spring will be compressed will depend on your ride height adjustment. You can fully preload the helper spring by turning the collar by hand so it doesn't take much.
I got 1cm below stock ride height with the helper fully compressed, you will need to start compressing the main spring to achieve stock ride height. I show the ride height adjustment on my install at around the 27min mark in this video (B14 or B16 ride height adjustment is the same):
