Sump.

Post by 12th » Tue Oct 08, 2024 9:26 am

I can't order the part from Audi Tradition as I am not a business. My indy doesn't have an EORI number at present, and isn't getting any response from Audi Tradition, and the other local ones I can find haven't been able to help. Did a bit of a Google and found some much cheaper bits in the UK, but they don't look like the one in the AT image, which I've checked is correct.

Any ideas? Terrified that if this goes, it'll be curtains for a car I intend to keep forever.

Why specifically the sump out of interest? Any part could go on these cars at any point, so are you keeping a spare for every scenario? I'm just curious.
The sumps rarely have issues but a quick google of the part number shows other places other than Audi Tradition are selling it, at a premium.

Slight oil leak. The only parts I could find online were much cheaper, but didn't look like the one in the link. If you found any that look like the one in the link (part No 079103602AS), please share - apparently Audi Tradition charges like a wounded rhino for shipping...

Cheers!

Will pass on to my indy - much appreciated, thank you!

Audi Tradition have new sumps in stock.

I managed to use a shipping agent in Germany to order some suspension parts from them on my behalf (gets around the UK bank account issue).

The agent charges 10% handling but they are flexible with regard to declared customs values etc.

I played it straight as I don't want my order to get stuck in customs for weeks!

Interestingly, I had a new sump fitted last year but there is still a small leak coming from somewhere!

Who did you use? I also have a relative in Germany, so if indy can't source it, I might see if they will.

I used mygermany.com

Took some time but we got there in the end.
Your relative is probably a safer bet.

I changed my sump due to corrosion and a potential leak.

Looks like it still has the leak but that will be fixed when the engine goes off for a rebuild.

The issue I am finding is many places show the item as in stock until you order it, then it's no longer available.

Indy having fun with the car at the moment - two of the bolts seem to be seized (not having been moved in 18 years, I suppose). If they break, it'll mean drilling them out, which is a bumper-off job. Fingers crossed the heat/lubrication attempt going on over the weekend will loosen them...
