Front Caliper Mounting Bolt - Part number?

Post by lugars4 » Wed Apr 03, 2024 5:56 pm

Audi are not recognising this bolt, saying (not applicable to vehicle). Yet it’s definitely there! I want to replace them when doing discs.

Any ideas?

Does the schematic give you thread pitch and shank length of bolt ?

I'd just order a like for like from pro-bolt, Westfield Fasteners or the likes..

No, it’s not listed at all. Would like to order them up before I strip it.

Crazy they said it wasn't listed. The bolt looks to go thru the body of the Caliper and into the carrier ?

I'd guess it's an m10 x 1.25 or 1.5 or an M12 x 1.5.

I've a pair of B8 Calipers sitting on my bench,
which isn't much help.

I'll actually nip out for a look..

Not much help I'm afraid, but if those are bolts which secure the Caliper, thru the Carrier I'd say they might be a bit heavier, mine are M14 x 1.5 as per images.

Those schematics are generally not to scale in a lot of casesImageImageImageImageImage

Yeh not ideal. Also looking online same problem.

From the workshop manual, clearly shows them, item 9.

They'll be quite heavy, man. M12/M14. I've emailed A for Audi and asked a question. I will send this one too.

Just what I said. No15 on that first slide looks puny compared to this shot..

There you go lugars, as I had suspected, it's a fairly beefy bolt...

any idea of length?

Hi Stuart

It is correct that Audi do not list or supply this bolt, although Porsche list them for their cars. They are all M12x1.5 but have different lengths.

If you know the length required, I could give you a part number.

Cheers

Paul

Thanks for the additional info!

Talking to Audi again today, they can supply the bolt #3 in the last diagram i posted above.
So must be they intend for you to take the caliper and carrier off in one, per your photos.
I had seen videos of the smaller bolts holding the caliper to the bracket being seperated for disc change, will remove the carrier and have ordered the bolts (they hold them in stock, so must be a common part), will post PN once ive collected them.
