Folding mirrors

Post by Merlot » Mon Feb 06, 2006 6:12 pm

I notice that the mirrors on the RS4 don't have electric folding but does anyone know if they can be manually folded back?

I've got a tight parking spot and the electric folding mirrors on the B6 S4 are great but the B5 S4 had manually folding mirrors which were nearly as useful.

The RS4 mirrors do NOT fold. Indeed if you knock them they are designed to come off - hopefully avoiding damage to body and the idea being they can be refitted with potentialy only the case having to be replaced.

You can order folding mirrors -- but if you do you will receive standard A4 colour coded mirrors -- not the RS4 style.

I was not aware of this from reading the price list but thanks nevertheless. Trouble is I would go for this mirror option and the recaros (with memory function or not?) but these two items would hit the residual.

Fek, this is a p1sser.

Doubt it will fit in my garage then as I have to fodl the mirrors on the golf to get it in. Also great to know when some muppet clips it in a carpark - rather than pop it back out it will be £600 for a new mirror!!!

I am 90% certain you can down grade to folding mirrors but they are not silver.

Which would be sacrilege.

Bucket seats and the fancy looking mirrors help make the car different to an S4. If I bought, I would have to have the recaros but I would expect the car to be less desireable with them second hand. Any thoughts?

I think the buckets only have electric lumber but not up/down, back/forward and recline.....basically they are manual adjustment seats!

Still not sure if the recaros have memory though (which I would like).

The buckets are electric lumbar only -- other adjustments manual -- plus two buttons to control the grip of the seats - if you don't like this feature it can be switched off so you can still have sport mode - but without the seats hugging you to death!

I was told if you have the recaro sport seats they are the same as the S4 - I don't think the S4 has memory as standard.
