Non starting from cold

Post by Adymars » Sat Nov 27, 2021 10:42 am

I know this has been done & done but can anyone explain in idiot format why my B7 cab will not start from cold without a boost pack or jump leads from another car.

1.Relays changed.
2.New Bosch battery
3.Drain check showed no problems.

Once its hooked up it fires up no problem. Then it's fine for the rest of the day no matter how many times I turn it off & on again.

It's doing my nut in now.

Could be simply down to a bad or corroded earth. Sounds the most likely, but I would also look at the starter motor - if faulty, it may be requiring a larger power draw to turn it and the engine over.
I've never experienced either of these actual issues on an RS4, but I have previously on other cars with symptoms similar to those you have described.

Starter motor.
Will get progressively worse. Always start when warm.
Mine would start fine all day. Then not start when cold in morning.
If nice day would start..

It doesn't matter what the weather's like with mine. It just seems like the battery doesn't have enough power to crank the engine.
