Bag of foam

Post by DocMcc » Sat Oct 10, 2020 12:42 am

Hey all,

2006 RS4 Cabriolet (just purchased) - was trying to find the cause of a serious leak that was flooding under the drivers seat (found it and not happy) anyway I came across a thin plastic (black) bag full of silencing foam and sealed with a hog clip stuffed in the hole in front of the front seat belt. The bag is about 20 cm long and 8 cm wide.

No idea what it is for and was almost certainly not in my previous 2003 2.4 a4 cab. Does not look like Audi quality :)

Thoughts - was it installed by a garage to stop a rattle or do others have this bag of foam?

My wifes 2013 Polo had a bag of foam wedged into the gap between the inner and outer wing, it had a proper VAG part number printed on the bag and I googled and it was supposed to be there, think its still in the spare room somewhere, never noticed any difference in noise from the car without the foam being in place.
