I am going to be unpopular, but....

Post by rs666 » Tue Jan 24, 2006 9:51 pm

I just can't get into the look of the B7 :?

I love the interior, love the ride (had passenger laps at Donnington), love some of the exterior details, but the overall exterior just doesn't do it for me.

And I think Audi have made a mistake by making the A4 S-Line look so close to the S4 and RS4 look

Sorry guys....flame suit on :boots:

Couldn't agree more.... It'll be hard to part with the B5 against the B7.

I think the B5 has a real presence due to its understated looks but awesome performance lending it real class.

The B7 is more 'does what it says on the tin' and looses some of its mystique/aura.

I don't think the RS6 has as much class as the B5 as it has a bit of bling to it appearance.

I don't think you're going to be unpopular...there's many who feel the same...me included.

Just doesn't do 'it' for me like the B5 did... Seen a ton of S-Lines and I agree with Phil that it just seems difficult to tell them apart...maybe it'll change when I see one on the road.

From the current pics, I'd actually rather have a saloon than an Avant

I'm not in a position to purchase a B7 but i remember the first time i saw a B5 in a magazine thinking want one, want one, want one....... Hasn't happened with the B7 (yet) but maybe seeing one in the flesh would change that.

I agree. As I have said before, its an Audi for BMW owners. Even the wheels are the same.

Next time you pay for petrol, glance out the window at your B5 in the forecourt. Its awesome after all these years. I'm sorry but the B7 will never do that.

Yes, I think a lot of people think Audi have made a mistake with the B7 looks. A3, A6, A8 seem to have made the transition much better.

It is a shame they didn't think to use the B6 body with pumped guards for the new RS4. That would have been a much more attractive car and good tradition.

Audi has broken all tradition with respect to NOT modding at the end of a series, ie., as with B5 RS4, RS6.
Audi are not only losing their turbo roots but they are losing their philosophy!

One thing is, it's still going to stand out but when it goes by I'll be thinking

"damn that nose is ugly" :audibash:

I think it looks good. There again the chances of my affording one is precisely zero so I haven't considered it much.
I hate the B6, but quite like the B7. It's what BMW could have achieved before they hired their blind designer.

How can you not love the look of the new RS4, it looks great. Anyone who does not like it call 0800 992 992, HQ for Spec Savers. Sorry only joking beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. It took me a while to get used to it. Each morning I look at my RS4 or RS6 and think you look dated now. The RS4 is still the best Audi RS model by a mile. The new RS4 is good, but their will never be the same feeling as the first time you put your foot down in the old RS4 and both the turbos fired you through the back window.

You are complaining about RS vs S-Line, but think about those guys that own truly AMG's car, and then the normal MB can come from factory with the same exterior aspect including the quad exhaust... Thank god that the RS cars are a bit wider than the others and have as unique exhaust and wheels. I know that you can put RS exhaust and wheels look, but it isn't an option from factory like on MB. And the AMG´s are a lot pricey than the RS's.
The point is that the people still buying AMG's because they want sport-utility car's, and the people that buy an AMG can buy for the same price other truly sport cars. And for the factories they save more money making identical car than making a new model. And if you want a AMG look you have to pay about 10k euros for the kit, despite if it is a lower or higher class car. Think on the profit in that kit. If you want a unique car then you must go for Ferrari, Lambo, Bugatti... truly sport cars, and not sport-utility cars like M's, AMG's and RS's.
