Optimal re-sale spec?

Post by bjacks » Wed Dec 28, 2005 5:27 pm

Wandered into my friendly dealers today and got a brochure and pricelist and had a general chat about the avant.

I was told the summer, but realistically it's not going to be.

Now, they've offered me their demo saloon, so it'll be one of the first launched. Waiting to confirm if it is spec changable still as it has nasties like the multifunction wheel, and possibly not the bucket seats :o

If it is still changable, I may well buy it with a view to selling it when the avant comes out. But, I don't want to get lumbered with a silly amount of depreciation because I've ordered a yellow one or some daft option

I know you guys have been debating this type of thing for a while now, but I may have to move quickly and make a decision, so was hoping for a quick bit of advice.

I'm fancying:
Black,
Full black leather (is this a cost option?)
Alcantara wheel
Heated seats
Suspension Plus
Armrest Phone prep
Autodip Mirror
ISOFIX
Cool Box
Piano Interior trim
Auto Boot lid

Now, the big question is will I get the £2k back on the Nav/Tech Pack?

It's nearly 5% of the price of the car.

Also, do the dealers know about the dark wheels?

All the best lads!

Ben

PS, if it was a keeper, I'd get Imola :D

Not sure which brochure you have, there seem to be at least three in existence, the latest one I have is a black A4 paperback, which seems to give a little more of a clear guide as to the options. As far as that one is concerned, full black valcona leather is standard on the bucket seats as is cloth/leather. If you wanted the recaros, standard spec is full Silk Nappa leather with piping. Choice of black/silver.
ISOFIX is standard (for rears)
Suede steering wheel package is £450
Presume heated seat option is available for the buckets, not sure on that one.
I think phone prep is a must have
and then the big one... technology pack £2,300 :audibash: it's necessary evil I believe. There's probably portable units that are just as good, and umm portable, (discussed many times!) but it seems to fit into the 'sunroof' catagory of optional extras - you've got to have it!

Don't go for the arm-rest phone as it deletes the sports steering wheel with the sports button. Go for the dash mounted phone instead!.

You end up with the big, multi-function steering wheel.. not what you want in your RS4!

And no.. the dealers don't know about the gun metal rims.. and if you try to change your order it will go to the back of the que.. that's what i was told anyway. I've also gone with the tech pack, as a £50,000 car really needs sat nav.

I was looking at the September price guide chap, pretty hard to work out re the seats.

Damn, forgot about sunroof, that's another £800 odd! So, £3k for stuff I won't use?!

Perhaps I'll spec Symphony and get the RNS-E Navi from ebay and retrofit :D

Looks like I'll be ridding of the armrest phone also then Dave

Can't find any decent pictures of the car in Black also, wonder whether Daytona will be better, or Avus, especially with dark wheels.

Mmmmm

I'm not a fan of sun-roofs , esp with climate.. so it's not an option for me.

You really do need to go through the price list with a magnifying glass, as it its easy to spec something, which deletes something eles!

Been looking through the hardback brochure again and noticed that the engine is supercharged. Cool!

Why can't there be some more pics of different colours/finishes?

I knew it was a typo, just made me chuckle. Perhaps I'll wind up the dealer a bit :D

Been having a look at the configurator Mr Brown, equally annoying as it doesn't have some of the options in the pricelist. You can now see my dilemma, there's probably some essential option that I've not seen that everyone else has!

Still not heard if it is spec changable :(

Cheers lads,

Ben

This is the latest brochure I have, looks like a mass produced one - it's a bit more user friendly than the silver hard back/price list combo, and no mention of superchargers, so it must be deadly accurate  looks good in black from the front anyway!

Changed the spec and signed the order form :D

Forgot about alcantara wheel and bluetooth prep, better things to spend another £850 on, like the tech pack. It pains me to have to order it but if I want to keep to my plan and get an avant then I decided it was worth it.

No build slot though, any one else got one yet?

All the best

Ben
