X Pipe or H Pipe

Running h as well, deeper and some more rumble. X is known to give you a bit more power but we are talking single digit HP numbers, and often come with some rasp and I that is one thing I am personally not looking for. However, X seem to be the most common choice and if done right might not be that raspy.

makes very little difference on the RS4 since the 2 pipes run so close, on american cars the H part might be 18" between the pipes, on the RS4 its lucky to be 1"

X Pipe or H Pipe

Post by Seattle-squash » Sun Oct 22, 2017 7:16 am

I have H and cant say it sounds anything like an American V8, and I have had several. However, perhaps X is even more exotic sounding but I can assure that it sounds nothing like my American V8’s sounded like. Also, make sure you pick a system which does have a rasp you can deal with. I ended up doing a custom H, stock resonator out, piggies, and some high flow inline resonators to clean up the sound a bit and very happy with it and very little to no rasp.
