There's little to no difference between Shell V-Power and Tesco Momentum, apart from the cost. They're that close in terms of mixture and octane rating that it's either going to come down to price (Tesco is notably cheaper) and how busy the forecourt is. A busier forecourt means a faster turnover of fuel so less chance of fuel sitting there and ageing in the tanks.

The main thing to remember is to stay away from regular 95 RON, and BP Ultimate, as that stuff is trash.

I use 95% V Power and the other 5% regular Shell this is when I am doing a long m-way cruise and so I am just going to burn straight through it

I've always used BP Ultimate but since my local Shell have been pushing fill up and go I decided to give it a go. Love the fact I don't have to go into the Shop.

One issue, i was getting 25-26 with ultimate now only seeing 20-22 with v-power.

Not sure if it's linked to fuel, my driving style or a different route to work I don't know.

Honestly BP Utimate is very poor super unleaded. It's a lower octane than V Power/Tesco 99 and less consistent too. I'd avoid unless it's an emergency.

I use Costco Premium 99 RON. Slightly cheaper than my local Tesco.

I think there's been a discussion about Costco that concluded it's probably the same as Tesco fuel.

Personally I try to stick to Shell or Tesco 99, BP is a waste of time as it's always more expensive than any other brand and IIRC max 97. Esso is similar (maybe 98?) but often only has 95 anyway.

Remember the fuel all comes from the same place. No separate refinery for Tesco or Shell fuels etc. The only difference between Shell V power and Tesco Momentum is different additives. Both specced to same octane level and then the Shell blend is made up with their special detergents/additives at refinery terminal before being tankered out. One thing I believe is as higher octane petrol does not sell as much it can settle out in tanks a bit which will have an effect on fuel quality. Best to always buy from busier petrol station so has less chance of settling out.

I personally use mostly Tesco 99 and the occasional fill up with Shell V power. I don't notice any difference in performance or economy. I never use BP ultimate though as I have noticed noticeable difference in performance using this fuel on a few of my previous cars.

Aviation fuel is EXTREMELY tightly controlled.
I recall (when I worked for an oil company) doing a tour round Heathrow looking at the airside installations, when they had the "tank farm" where T5 is now.
All the fuel suppliers fed into a common pipeline that led to the various underground outlets on the stands.
The fuelling "trucks" just connected under the tarmac (actually concrete) and metered what they pumped into the planes. No doubt also metered at the tanks as well.

It was all balanced out on a regular basis and all the suppliers were paid the correct amount and pumped their fair share down the pipeline.

But it was all EXACTLY the same even though it may have come from different refineries.

Not sure how true this is. But read on here before that for high revving performance cars it's not the Ron rating but the mon rating that benefits the RS4.. And v power has a higher Mon rating than the rest..
