Which fuel ?

Post by R-S-4 » Wed Aug 16, 2017 8:07 pm

I was told to use shell v power, which i have for a few months now, then im told that tesco 99 is the better option ?

which do you guys use ? We all want to do the best by our cars but with some many different opinions and comments its like a mine field, both garages will be out of my way so one isnt better than the other to me, i have a shell drivers card to give me discount on fuel apparently, and i Shop at tesco and they give you reward points so both are win win.

But is one actually better than the other? shame i cant put a pole / chart up to see what you all prefere

I use both depending convenience of filling up.

I will choose Tesco over Shell though.

No, my driving sensitivity is not that scientific. I notice extra club card points.

Where has your Milltek post gone?

My wife notices the clubcard points, I notice that it's slightly cheaper than Shell.
But we buy whichever is most convenient; both our cars run better on 99.
Had to put some Sainsbury's 97 in one the other day! Not the Audi thankfully.

ok, will give it a go and see whats what, i would prefere to stick with shell just for ease but if the other is better then i will definatly change over

Someone said to me at the Nurburgring last month the difference between v power and Tesco is that "v"has additives in where as Tesco is just the higher grade fuel so if you use Tesco I should use v power once every 4/5 tanks, he knows his cars and far more "tecky" than me he's on this forum but don't know his username..

To be honest that sounds like the perfect thing to do, from what i can gather tesco is the better performance and the shell has great cleaning properties so what you say may well be the best way to go. I assume it wont matter that my car is mapped though? some say this can affect things as the car would have been set up on a particle fuel, again only saying what ive been told so if thats crap then dont shoot me down ;)

I always use V-Power, whether it's worth the extra 10p per litre is debatable??
On the other hand all that premium fuel has to pass through an in-expensive filter before reaching the pumps and it if its never been changed it will be full of contaminants.
Morale of the story...change your fuel filter first then decide what fuel :beerchug:

I only use V power and I genuinely believe it's better for the engine and worth the extra few pence.

Others may disagree.

Don't think it matters too much between the two fuels, but personally, i always use V Power because it's made by Shell, an oil company and not Tesco, a supermarket.

I allways use 99. Never really noticed a diffrence when i started using it. But when i was low on fuel the once an the only garage around me had 95 i put £20 in to get me to the next garage and i really noticed a diffrance it just seemes realy sluggish on pull off an just not as good.
