Steering / suspension?

Post by TedKarslake » Wed Jun 28, 2017 11:56 pm

Hi guys,

I've been away with work since Sunday night so I haven't driven the car in a while. Tonight I thought I would take her for a little blast because it's been a few days and I immediately noticed a difference in the driving experience.

The car seems to be what I can only describe as 'floating' when going round corners or bends, and it's wobbly under braking, for want of a better word. It also seems to be tram lining on the road, I was constantly correcting the steering wheel. Has anyone experienced anything like this? It seems strange that the car was fine on Sunday but absolutely terrible now.

I automatically thought it was the DRC, but the suspension was changed in 2015 so I cannot see it being that. Maybe my tyres? It just feels a bit weird, I can't put my finger on it. It's not enjoyable to drive now!

Has anyone experience anything like this? I'm find it quite alarming.

Thanks,

Ted

You checked tyre pressures?
You had the alignment checked?
The front suspension arms also spring to mind.
Just because DRC was chnaged it doesn't automatically rule it out, but generally speaking if it had lost pressure then you'd hear some knocking noises.

Cheers guys, I've been away since I posted this but I think I'm going to try and check the steering rack bolts at some point this weekend!

Post up how you get on. Can't imagine they are easy to get to.

The top 2 are easy enough from memory when I checked mine.
There was a thread on here some time ago about it.
IIRC they use unusual bolts so make sure you get the right tool and torque accordingly..
