DRC was replaced before I bought it. Probably the only things left would be the clutch and the brakes. It's got new performance pads in and there's probably another couple of years left in the discs, dependent on how many miles you do of course, but the clutch was last done on 46k and that would be the very last thing I'd want to be forking out for.
Like I've said previously, I can forever say I've owned an RS, how many price can say that?
Thanks for all the comments btw 😉

At least you owned and enjoyed having one if only for a short while.

I picked up a R55 Mini Clubman JCW (not the brand new one, its crap) and honestly, it is a hoot to drive!

Cheaper tax, insurance, running costs and easily as much fun on a back road blast.

Having said that, my RS4 will still be around long after it is gone.

They just don't make like the B7 anymore....

These are 60k+ cars. Any car of this performance will be expensive to run on way or another. But...

...why did you take the car to be serviced immediately on purchase, and not insist on it being done, or at least fully inspected, beforehand? That could have spotted most of the issues you then had to stump up for (though to be fair they can also just happen if they've not been addressed before).

And as others have noted, you've just spent 4k for the benefit of the next owner. Seems a bit nuts, but I understand the desire to draw a line under it and wish you well with whatever you buy next.

I have spent about 3000 pounds in only 2 months of ownership.

But 2k was for brakes (which I knew about) and 1k sorting some small issues and changing some fluids.

I know unexpected expenses that "pop up" are the worst but you have sorted the main things and now no longer need to worry.

Is the car sold or can you change your mind?

It was serviced after 6 weeks of having it, although it had full history there was no record of a service being done in the last 2 years prior to me buying it. That was when diagnostics revealed an inlet manifold flap malfunction, something i would never have unearthed as the car seemed to be running fine. I got in touch with Unit 20 and they carried out the repair and on inspecting the car noticed that the oil cooler pipes were seeping, again something i couldn't have seen unless i'd got the car on a ramp and taken the cover off, both not massive jobs but fairly expensive.
2 months later it developed a leak which turned out to be an auxiliary rad, so that was 3 jobs in the first 5-6 months, none of which i could have foreseen. At the back end of last year it developed a knocking on the front which turned out to be upper and lower control arm bushes, all replaced immediately and then more recently the carbon clean issue. Whatever the cars needed i've had done immediately and it's all been carried out by a specialist. I can understand that the new buyer will get the benefit from me having had these issues sorted but i just can't justify using any more "retirement" savings on it, as much as i really want to keep it.
These cars are on another level from all the performance cars i've owned before and i will be sorry to sell it but i have to get out of it for financial reasons. It's been a blast !!

Thanks again for all your comments ;)

Oh well, still got the car !!!

Won't go into the ins and outs of what went on but i hate being messed about, that's what i hate about selling cars privately through a friend of a friend.

So gonna enjoy it for a couple of months and then put it back up for sale. Booked it in for a machine polish, might fall in love with it again ;)

Hello forum members - I'm looking at this car - should it not have bucket seats though?

You buy and expesnive, highly strung and complex car and you expect to pay bills,

Certainly anyone who walks into ANY RS without a budget of 3k per year for maintenance is a fool.
You might get lucky and get a couple of years with very minor outlay, but then you'll get a year that costs 5-8k easy if a few items stack up

Its like all the numpties that bought the new GTR when it was only 60k and then wondered why their supercar performing Nissan had supercar type bills attached lol

You want cheap motoring buy a Golf Diesel or a Kia with a warranty lol
