DRC again....

Post by mf11 » Mon Oct 24, 2016 10:02 pm

Rear shock is leaking on..... Been quoted £600 by local specialist with the right tools to fix it (Stealer wants £1200). Is this the best option compared to switching over to something else? Another local specialist has quoted me £900 to change over entirely to Bilstein Sprint Dampers (retaining my standard springs). Any thoughts or words of wisdom appreciated! Thanks. Michael.

The problem you have if one goes the rest may follow.

Did one shock on my old car and 6 weeks later another went so went Bilstein B6 coilovers which felt very similar to the DRC to be honest.

If you have no history of the shocks ever being replaced then I'd get the rest done so that you have the latest generation versions - My previous RS4 had covered 45k on the latest versions with no problems. They're not that expensive from memory and you're already paying for the system to be re-pressurised.

Doing that will re-pay you come resale time and will handle/ride better than aftermarket.

better either biting the bullet do all the system inc hard and soft pipes and a set of latest shocks-or quality coilovers
would save cash in the long run

So if i would change all 4 at audi i would get a new improved version of the drc? More reliable? My left fwd shocker has a small amount of fluid coming out and stertman told me i could use it for another summer then it needs changing.

What are we talking about here, new improved drc, Audi special price 5000 eur? :audibash: :D
