Service Reminder

Post by concept » Sun Aug 07, 2016 2:37 pm

Had the car 4 weeks, when we got it, the spanner showed service not due for 5000 miles, we've done 800 miles in it, and now it shows as needs a service.

If it's on variable servicing, surely the oil can't degrade that much in 800 miles to suddenly require doing?!

Service Reminder

Sounds like someone forgot to reset the service interval when it was serviced, assuming it was done when you got it a month ago. I would pick up a diagnostic vag-com cable and download the free Ross-Tech software. It's worth it and you can handle this and other diagnostic/coding tasks. Congrats on new car, pretty sure you will love it. Oil service intervals is up to you, I do 5k intervals, surely more frequent than I need but I like to play it safe. I try to do most of my own service hence the cost of oil is a cheap warranty in my mind, and I actually enjoy the service parts as much as I do the driving. Like my wife would say; "you are sick" :)

Variable servicing has different schedules for oil and inspection.

Enjoy the weather. The RS4 Cabriolet is superb. Store http://www.autoelectron.co.uk/ for when you have any roof problems, which you will, especially if you use the roof whilst moving at less than 30mph as it kills the roof motor very quickly. Autoelectron will save you a fortune over any Audi quotes and Merv knows every little detail :biggrin3:
