Mrc stage 1 vs stage 2 manifold
Re: Mrc stage 1 vs stage 2 manifold
Having not driven another RS4, I can't compare to manifold flaps in place, but my de-flapped manifold does cause some jerkiness when the car's cold. To the point that I'd tried swapping out a clutch switch, and asked MRC to investigate when i first bought the car, as I thought there was a fault. The result of their investigation; it's just the character of the car when cold, and no issue.
It's not an issue when the car's up to temp, and am not worried about it now anyway as I know it's not a fault as such.

Ross, I remember you mentioning this a while back. Did you find this was just in sport mode, or all the time? I don't find mine that bad in normal mode. Sport mode is a little off/on similar to E46 M3's and seems best used after a rolling start, but great through the revs.RossDagley wrote:For balance, I must say that I didn't like the part-throttle response of a deflapped manifold. It lost the smoothness (refinement) of pickup that the flaps give (obviously). Each to their own, but if I were doing it again, I'd probably keep the flaps despite the fact they are a magnet for slime/carbon.

Re: Mrc stage 1 vs stage 2 manifold
I lost the very low rev / pulling away smoothness for normal driving. For example, pulling away from traffic lights or a roundabout just a bit... rough. Nothing specific, just like the car wasn't running smoothly or 'mapped right'. Rough idle kind of thing (although idle was fine - just picture the sensation etc). It was noticeably not OEM if that makes sense. the Stage 2 map on the RS6 for example drives just like it does out the factory. Smooth and calm when you potter about, animal when you need it.
The manifold deflap (combined with the remap) for me at least felt like I was running lumpy cams or something (but not THAT bad!) - great on song, but... lacked refinement on tiny/part throttle. Now - it's likely I'm just hyper-sensitive and am a little bitch, but just thought it worth mentioning in case anyone else is quite as sensitive as me!

That was exactly what i noticed as well, the stage 2 non sport mode seemed flatter than the OEM non sport mode as well.

Another forum member said the same thing. Felt like they had toned down the non sport mode to make the difference feel bigger

Re: Mrc stage 1 vs stage 2 manifold
Has anyone else noticed that their cruise control is awful after the re-map etc... When i set mine it is constantly on and off every second or so.... It doesn't seem to hold speed well at-all...

Re: Mrc stage 1 vs stage 2 manifold
I had the Stage 2 remap done nearly 2 years ago and have used the cruise often (especially on the French peage autoroues) and not noticed any difference in how cruise works.Frostie wrote:Has anyone else noticed that their cruise control is awful after the re-map etc... Re: Mrc stage 1 vs stage 2 manifold
I had a MRC full CC and stage 2 with flaps left in (no cold air feed) and was very happy. However I had my flaps taken out as there was play in the rail which was causing a massive power drop at the top of the curve. This was noticed by Doug on the recent MRC rolling road day. I hence had a full carbon clean and flaps removed. I do notice that it is jerky when cold but only for a very short while. I can live with it. Overall in non sport mode it drives very smoothly, but in sport round town you need to feather the clutch and throttle else it jumps all over the place. With my cruise control I've had no issues at all.

Re: Mrc stage 1 vs stage 2 manifold
No jerkiness from cold but I do get a slight undulation in the revs at tick over but I kind of like it with stage 2 manifold.Covkiller wrote:I had a MRC full CC and stage 2 with flaps left in (no cold air feed) and was very happy. I'm with you on the sport mode though, very on/off at low speeds and cruise works fine on mine.

Re: Mrc stage 1 vs stage 2 manifold
Iv had mine for 7 months now and I absolutely love it!!!
Cars in at MRC again for a map tweak and a few bits and bobs. Surprisingly it has lost no power at all (no carbon buildup yet) Iv gained a few more horses after the map tweak!
New map for crackles and pops with flat shift/LC. Can’t wait to pick her up in the week.

Re: Mrc stage 1 vs stage 2 manifold
Thanks lads. Does the first 3 gears with the limiter removed make a big difference?
