Good Day,
I had the exact same symptoms, but I also had my MAF fail shortly after, so below is a summary of what my Shop did to solve both problems. My mechanic said that 4H0 951 253 2 Relays (Fuel Pump and Engine Sensor Circuits) was causing the failure for the car to turn over after an in-depth look at the codes the car was throwing and comparing to the wiring diagram.

Was this a indie or stealer repair? as they have done a detailed repair
How was your car running leading up to it not starting? Rough?
What intake air system are you running?

It was an indie. The starting for me was totally intermittent and would happen very infrequently, the odd time it happened I was able to bump start the car. So when I took it into the Shop is was starting, but the car was running horribly as the MAF sensor wasn't working properly and the indie also found a small vacuum issue.
My intake is OEM and the car runs great now.

The point I was making is that without knowing the fault codes any suggestions are really just a "stab in the dark" as there are many possible causes for most engine related faults, which IMHO makes VCDS a "must have" accessory.
Without VCDS all you're doing is buying parts and swapping them in the vague hope that you might find the problem - and even if you do some faulty codes are "blocking" so even if you've replaced the faulty part the problem will still persist.

When you finally find out what codes the car is throwing you can compare them to mine.
Here is an example of the codes I was throwing after the car wouldn't start and I had to bump start it. Note this VCDS hit was taken before my MAF problem developed. The big takeaway from my mechanic were all the short to grounds.

So, car back from York Audi today.
The non-starting fault was traced to a defective fuel pump and so it's had a new one fitted at a cost of £433.92 inc VAT and labour (the part being £263)
While it was in there the helpful workshop people advised all four suspension arm bushes at the front were 'deteriorated' and advising immediate replacement. Bit the bullet and had it done - basically a grand's worth (inc the VAT and labour).
Feel a bit aggrieved as I bought the car privately and it's only done 70k miles with a continuous main dealer history and having just been serviced at Bradford Audi at 68k miles. Vendor said it had had a clean bill of health from them and showed me the dealer paperwork. I may follow up with them to see whether they'd advised anything but I'm not sure to what end - I have no comeback from the vendor.
Anyhow, on the upside they have been through the rest of the car and say it's all fine so hopefully that'll be the last huge expense for this year...

Thats great that its back in action, albeit a small fortune for stuff that you cant really see....
I do like using Audi main dealers for servicing work, just for that official stamp in the book. However, i hate the pointless 'health check' advisory notes they always feedback.... theyre irritating and unhelpful.
