19" rims
full leather
front and rear pdc
start button
6 disc cd - sat nav is an option
alloy pedals
cool steering wheel
start button
cat 1 alarm
bose
carbon bucket seats
race button
This doesn't look too bad, by European standards anyway. The B5 had sat nav, sun roof and other goodies as options as well.
I share the depreciation fear. Switzerland had imported way too many 4's and 6's, but 4 years in, good '01 RS4 money buys you a '02 RS6. A shame

So according to the list its got 2 start buttons? Thats a novel idea, should make them a shoe-in come COTY time. Perhaps 2 start buttons is twice as Evo?

By "Race Button" I think they mean the "Sport Button". Here's some of the details:
Specification
RS 4 Saloon has the following items of standard equipment in addition to S4 Saloon:
• 9 J x 19 ‘7 arm double-spoke’ design alloy wheels with 255/35 R 19 Y tyres
• Tyre mobility system (TMS)
• Tyre pressure monitor
• Ventilated cross-drilled front disc brakes
• RS Bucket seat
• Black metallic Valcona leather upholstery
• RS 4 steering wheel
• Gear knob in perforated leather and aluminium
• Acoustic parking – front and rear
• Aluminium foot pedals
• BOSE sound system
• Cruise control
• Decorative inlay – ‘carbon fibre RS 4’
• Dynamic Ride Control (DRC)
• Engine start button
• Heated front seats
• Luggage pack – 12v-power socket, storage net and fixings
• Matt aluminium door mirror housings and window trims framing the exterior side windows
• Rear ISOFIX
The RS Bucket seat has been developed to provide maximum support and be ultra lightweight. It
includes inflatable side bolsters to enhance the driving position. These can be inflated using the
‘Sport’ button mounted on the steering wheel or from a dedicated switch on the seat. To reduce
weight this seat does not include any other electric adjustments but is fully manually adjustable.
The RS 4 steering wheel is a unique steering wheel that combines perforated leather and aluminium
in a ‘tapered’ design. It incorporates a ‘Sport’ button, which inflates the RS bucket seat bolsters,
re-maps the throttle control to give a sharper response and changes the engine’s sound pattern.
The steering wheel also controls the ‘lap time’ function and is able to scroll through the DIS
functions

Think the standard spec is pretty good,be interesting to see the cost options to see what specing the car up is going to cost....still think it will be around £55k with sat nav and a few extra goodies....given it will be unlimited numbers.....depreciation will be a consideration to some.
Cheers fc

Whilst the standard spec looks good, the list price plus extras like Sat Nav etc will push a good spec one up to £54/55K. At this price and with no limit on production the car is going to depreciate quite badly. The saloon in particular will be more prone to this than the Avant. I'd guess on at least 20% loss for a year old one possibly more.

"So would someone be so kind and order a black Avant and I'll give you 35k for it next spring".
If you order two I'll take one off your hands aswell...

It will be interesting if some of the cost savings made in the name of "reduced weight", like the electric seats, will be cost options.
Seems to remind me of the M3 CSL which had a few things stripped out but available as (nocost?) options. Like a/c which of course then is a must.
If it is not restricted in numbers it can only go down the pan residual wise. For some reason BMW does not seem to suffer as much - I read once they do their forecasts every year and then chop the numbers by 15% to ensure demand!
Robert (not entirely sure about the new RS4 yet).

Still want to order a saloon for the states. Price wise, I might not be able to afford.

I dont think you should necessarily put BMW as an example to follow. In the case of the CSL they cost £62K in late 2003 and now you will be offered £35K - £39K now by a dealer. This was for a limited edition limited number so even BMW arent immune from heavy depreciation.
