Hey, I'm just glad the US is getting the car. I've been waiting for this for years and I need something to beat my Dad's RS6 in the Wisconsin winters!!!! Suppsoedly am first on the dealers list and are discussing deposits.
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Don
What kind of deposits are you discussing? I would like to know what the price of the RS4 B7 is going to be in the U.S. I live down in FL and all I have been getting is nothing about the price.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Don
I put down a $500 deposit months ago at the local Audi dealer and was the first on the list for the RS4. I understand they have 4-5 others on the list now. This isn't abnormal for the area - they had a list 15 deep for the RS6 before they landed here in the states and luckily their allocation was upped by 50% from original so they could supply enough cars.

Oh. I was thinking about getting the RS4 and trading in my S4. I am really not sure yet. I know it won't be here until the end of this year, most likely. I will probably order mine from a big Audi dealer, either in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale, somewhere that will definitly be sent many RS4's from Audi. I really need to make up my mind. Do you have a guess of what the car's price is actually going to be in U.S. currency?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Don
Best educated guess I've heard is close to $70,000 if not slightly more. Of course, many things come into play - especially how well the Dollar is doing vs the Euro. We'll have to wait and see.
I'd be willing to bet the dealers you're considering already have lists started. Best to get on the list and have the option to jump out than miss out. Write up a price agreement as well. I think mine is something like $1000 off MSRP. It depends on the dealer how they do this - some may charge a premium for the early cars. The first new Beetle sold here in Utah went for $10,000 over sticker (ouch!).

And the reason the new car is sh*te is *because* it has been designed to also accomodate the US market>.<AUDI|RS4 wrote:The United States has been wanting the RS4 B5 ever since it came out in the first place. Some people over in the U.K. are getting upset because of the fact that Audi wants to place a new RS4 here, in the United States. You guys got to have the RS4 B5 all to yourself. Now, we get to share the RS4 B7 with you. I do agree, however, the style of the car has changed significantly with not only looks, but face it, we should be able to get the car too.

Funny, that's all that is being said.
If the US market is sooo damn important, why do we have to wait for a year to get it ?
If our market is the focus of this car, send em over to us first, since the Brits and most Europeans, OBVIOUSLY don't want it.
By the time it comes out here, all the hype will be for the new M4.....
and why are we only getting about 25% of production cars if it's ALL BOUT THE USA ?
this car was designed as is, by Audi and Quattro GbmH.
If you don't like it, buy something else.
It's faults(in your eyes) are NO FAULT of ours.....

RE: Re: Don
I think Alan's point, and one which we on this side of the Atlantic concur with, is that we are disappointed that the replacement for a classic vehicle which was deemed to be up there with the best in terms of driving dynamics, performance, looks, etc etc, has been sacrificed on the altar of the marketing department's latest customer clinics on the other side of the Atlantic. The demands (and needs) of the US market and its customers are very different to those of, say, the UK. That doesn't make THEM wrong, it just leaves US feeling somewhat alientaed and let down by a take-it-or-leave-it attitude from Audi for a replacement which many of us will simply not buy. And they should be careful - there's a lot of us - the UK was a very important market for the 4 and the 6 for Audi. Especially when, as you say Kujo, the competition is hotting up with cars like the M4, the M5 (maybe as an estate too!) and various Mercedes Benzes. Brand loyalty is only as strong as your next product...!

I don't think anyone here is blaming the Americans...they're blaming Audi for some of the choices they have made...

RE: Re: Don
Dave, there are dozens of post which cleary state the car isn't up to snuff because of it's being designed for the US.
Audi isn't shying away from Turbos because of us.
The new body design is based off thier concept car, which had nothing to do with the US.
the car will be faster than the old 'stock' RS4. I know it can be tuned to be quicker because of the turbos.
American's love turbos too.
the NA move isn't due to the USs desire for NA motors.
I'd rather have a TT V6 too. Gas isn't cheap here and I know it's more over there.
No one has even driven this car yet.
You're telling me, it won't be as dynamic, it won't perform as good etc.... it's just two posts up.
How do you know ? You and no one else here have driven it.
It really comes down to looks and no turbos. That is the key to all the whining.
I'd rather have it with the B6 front, just like the rest, but the look is growing on me.
This forum is 90% dominated by UK Audi fans.
I like that, because I hear about things we don't even have here, like the B5 RS4.
But the fact that there are things about this car the folks in the UK don't like, has nothing to do with the American market.
I like how everyone is quick to blame the NA market for it's design flaws and such.
" It's aimed at N. America " " It's marketed for NA" blah, blah, blah.
If Audi is marketing the car to USA buyers, how come no one here has tried to dispute my point regarding delivery ?
It's supposedly marketed to us NA enthusiasts, but WE have to wait an entire YEAR to get it, while YOU get it in a few months.
But like you said, it's marketed to us folks that will wait OVER a year actually.
That's some great marketing strategies there.
I think those Audi merketing guys would be fired if that was the case ?????????
Don't like it ?
Not good enough ?
It's Ugly ?
don't buy it.
I'm done waving the American flag around now, but this forum is getting a bit boring with all the US market blame being thrown around because of choices Audi made for the car.
We're not tha important to Audi. They lose money on us with subsidising the dealers.
If we were sooooo important to Audi and the design of this car, we'd get it first......We're not.
We, on this side of the pond will wait at minimum 11 months and maybe up to 18 months for it.....
Cheers,
Kurt Jones

RE: Re: Don
Kurt, the point I am trying to make is that some of the US guys seem to think people are having a go at them...that isn't the case...the posts that are complaining about the car are just that! - posts complaining about the car!...not you or anyone else personally in the States.
Expectations here in Europe/UK have been very very high...I very much doubt Audi could have produced something that would have satisfied everyone here. I believe it will be a better car than a standard B5 RS4. I look forward to seeing one in the flesh...and maybe even driving one...but I don't currently think it's special enough to replace my current RS4, maybe I'll be proved wrong.

One point whch may be be relevant or not.........why would the Americans need a car capable of doing 155 mph when the maximum is 55???????

RE: Re: Don
What?!?!?! We have many reasons to get a car that can do 155mph. Most people here in the states take their cars to the max either on the road/highway or on the track. What are you talking about, maximum is 55mph.

To All,
I've never implied that all the comments coming out are aimed at certain US individuals.
All the comments are just being aimed at the American market when it comes to the cars faults.
Just go back and read MANY threads/posts here.
and still, everyone says the car's aimed at N.A., but no one has responded to the fact that us here in the US are having to wait an entire year or more to get it. It'll arrive just in time to beat the new M4.......
If Audi was really soooooo concerned with the US, send it here first !!! That'd be brilliant !!!!
Of course that wouldn't happen.
Europe and the UK will get 60-70% of all the RS4's made.
How can Audi's concern be with designing the car for the US when, we'll only get a small portion of them.
The point is, all the faults of the car are being blamed on the American "market".
That's total BS.
Expectations are just as high here in the US and we weren't even allowed to have the B5 version.
I know most American car drivers aren't up to snuff, but I'll tell you what, the 1250 drivers that buy this RS4 here will be just as up to snuff as drivers in the UK or Europe.
Maybe I'll see some of you at the Circuit de Catalunya in August.
And the 55mph statement, spare me.
Are you serious ?
Just like over there, where they have speed limits(even parts of the Autobahn have them) , they don't get abidded by and we have some very fast tracks that are open to the public here as well.
I bet if I had a B5 RS4, I wouldn't buy this one too.
I know there isn't alot of difference in performance.
But I wouldn't blame another car market for the faults, that 'I' personally find in it.
Bottom line, this RS4 will blow the doors off my S4, so I'll buy it.
If I had the choice, it would also be an Avant.
cheers,
Kurt
