New RS4 Owner in the North East

Post by Piers1989 » Sat Nov 01, 2014 11:57 am

Hi guys!

I just got my first RS4, I'm 24 and live in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

So far I'm loving the car, its a LOT stiffer than my old Merc E350 CDI xD

The only niggling issue I've got is the A/C. Basically it always blows warm air until i set it to significantly colder than I want. To be clear I don't have to go all the way to "low", and the temperature to get cool air I must set varies between 17-20 degrees (seemingly with temperature outside).

Anyone have any ideas about that? I tried to search but mostly found problems that only manifested in hot all the time unless you set it to low.

Thanks :D

Welcome Piers, I'm of similar age and got mine this time last year, have loved every minute in it since.

Air con might just need a re-gas?

Thanks guys

Yeah it is very nice! Did 800 miles in it on the weekend I got it going from York to collect to Newcastle then Cumbria. Used 3 tanks of V Power in the lakes with friends!

I'm hoping that's all it needs but i though since it still blows cold when set to cold it may not be. When I get a chance to take it to the garage I'll find out.

Always nice to see another rs migrate up north! I'm County Durham based, welcome to the gang. AC probably just needs a re-gas I wouldn't be worried as up here (recent weather excluded) it rarely gets hot enough to warrant AC

Thanks guys :)

I'm not originally from here, I moved here for uni when I was 20 and got a job here after my placement.

Spent most of my life in South Cumbria (which has some great roads if you've not been) and visit family and friends regularly over there. I'm originally from Luton but moved away when I was about 10.

I'll get the AC regassed sometime, its just nice to have it working properly blowing nice refreshing air rather than warm stale air.

I'm hoping to get some car pics tonight if its clear so I'll add them if I do.

Stuff like this one I took of my Mitsubishi Legnum VR4 (Hopefully with more even lighting!):

Impeccable taste! I used to have a Trigger Mauve Legnum VR4 before I got a Daytona RS4 Avant :D

Haha I was wondering if anyone from here would even know what a Legnum is! They're pretty under the radar.

I'm looking at selling it as with the RS4 there isn't really need for it, though I just took it for a quick drive and a 5 min hose down and it's still pretty fun.

No refinement what so ever compared to the RS4 but its SO playful! It was modded before I got it and has a silly loud exhaust and dump valve which are a bit vulgar, but they make it fun as hell to drive!

My ex lives in Scarborough so yeah I used to do that drive on a weekly basis!

Roads are nice but get some noob drivers on them and theres a lot of 40 zones that are practically criminal!
