Who is going to Order then ?????????????????????
new RS4 at GVA
right on...here is my take:LittleSkull wrote:After actually seeing the car at Geneva and finding out the final details of the new RS4 (saloon is butt ugly and power just ain't enough) unfortunately i think (maybe the Avant will change my mind) that i am moving my choice to the new Corvette Z06. Many people will say "what!!!", but i have heard so many great things about this car and the power, acceleration etccc....WOW!!! I have a Touareg V10 so getting the RS4 wouldn't realyy make sense. This way i'll have the comfortable big 4x4 car and the beast.
Cheers,
Cris
The wait was not worth it. Until I get a test drive it's not fair to judge but it's not a car I would even want to see in my garage, it's too ugly. The RS type styling has lost the business like aggressive while modest shape. The car looks heavy and it sat high on its wheels. The front has the weird bass fish mouth and combined with the new headlights, it looks like the car is having a hard time finding the road. The sides have too much creased metal and the rear looks pinched off with Asian style like tail lights running onto the trunk lid. Unlike the RS6 engine layout, the new RS4 presentation looks complicated with several accessories stuck on. 420 hp and only 430 Nm of torque is another disappointment. FSI, big deal!
The interior is nice and the new seats are better than the RS6. I'm sure the car will be fun to drive but on the autobahn at 250+ the high reving engine will be tough on the car's occupants.
Too bad they just didn't take the previous A4 and stuff it with all the goodies we Quattro junkies appreciate, like turbos for starters. I think that a woman with a taste for speed will love this new RS4.
By the way, who designed the AUDI stand? All the cars were in the same silver paint color except the RS4 on the stand which was red (there was a silver RS4 on the floor to play with). The stand + cars looked dull and even the usually cute models looked embarrassed and bored.
RE: new RS4 at GVA
I agree - it was so huge and sparse it looked like they had forgotten to bring on half the cars, no wonder the dollies they had emplopyed all looked totally miserable! Did you see the Land Rover stand though? Now THAT was cool!By the way, who designed the AUDI stand?
Well! I think the price for the RS4 is at a very low standing point as of now. I live in the United States and seeing that the M3 is priced at about $60,000, I would think that the Audi RS4 priced at £45,000 would not be such a big problem. If the dealer requested another £1,500, I think I would do it.

Ouch. Be nice if they bothered to court your business rather than cut to the chase. I can't get any sense out of Audi Head Office - but then should I expect anything more - after all we are only looking at £50k or soFrankC wrote:Had exactly the same at the local dealer yesterday....£1500 to go onto the offical list.
Dealer has deposits for 5 Avants and 3 Saloons as of yesterday.
Cheers fc

The local garage haven't returned my calls either.... a typical day in UK customer service then

Avant has got to be the way to go - a half practical car for me the misses and bairn.... and shortly dog no doubt! BMW not an option due to poor brand in UK so looks like it's a straight race unless anyone can tell me otherwise:
RS6 Plus Vs RS4

mine is ordered, and deposits not required until the car is specced...... this does seem to be a ruse used by dealers to sit on money... if you are ordering an avant all you should be doing as of now is giving them a letter of intention, I added the colour I wanted incase they turn round and say it is not available in black

very tempted to order and blame totally the inconsiderate members
on this site for tempting me, especially the member who posted
that gorgious black fully colour coded b7 rs4 saloon in the gallery
as regards avants/saloons,if the styling of the new a6 avant is anything to go
by, the rs4 avant could be pig ugly.

I spoke with my dealer on Friday.
Audi UK want people to stump up a 1500 quid deposit to secure the order aparently.
I saw a letter (marked internal use only) that stated this.
The idea of paying a deposit is to stop speculative buyers, but imo it actually promotes it !
Your details get registered on some web site, which means you get sent
priority information. Without the money no order will be placed, but your
interest will be noted.
My salesman is hoping to get my details logged on the website for an Avant
without the deposit, but this may not happen.
He agreed it was rediculous to stump up a deposit for a car that currently has
not been released so you have no way of knowing if you will really want it.
He also said it most likely will not be limited numbers, but will have the number of cars produced per year capped.

Too many toys, not enough time
Yep, similar story from mine - supposedly Audi UK will only deliver the car registered in the name of the person who pays the deposit to stop people selling their places on as delivery time gets nearer.
Well, in for a penny, in for a pound, well 49750 of them to be precise, and probably another 1000 for the avant
