Stock RS4 fitting a full inc sport cat Milltek system

Post by c20tbo » Sat Sep 13, 2014 10:49 pm

Guys,

Hi firstly being a new member, bit of info needed i have a stock 36k miles B7 RS4, ive got a chance of full Milltek system incl sport cat 200cell pipes, im aware if i fit this it will bring up error codes from the Lambdas, are there lambda spacers available to get round this as im not too fussed for remapping the car as there are minimus gains to be had doing so.

Also at 36k do you recon a carbon clean is necessary just yet, its something i will tackle myself anyway with the wallnut blast route, or is there anyone on here around the Aberdeen area that can do this at a good price?

Thanks Robert

Some cars need a clean after 20000 miles others don't. Some are ok at 60k others aren't. It can often depend how they're driven etc. almost certainly it's worth doing to yours if it's never been done though.

I don't know if lambda sleeves work in the rs4 - they have worked for me on other cars in the past but you should consider a remap really. I'm 25ps up on standard (which they never made!) and obviously that's most down to the remap.

The RS4 already has 200-cell cats, doesn't it? It the pre-cats on the down pipes being taken out or gutted that throw up lambda errors. there are spacers available (not sure exactly which ones, do a search for pre-cats or lambda spacers and you should find a thread on it all) or they can just be coded out of the ECU without a full remap. Speak to Scott at Motorwerks on Forrest Avenue Lane for details.

As for carbon clean, there's not anyone at the moment but mikers4 was just talking about someone that's meant to be starting to do the plug-in type of clean they did on Wheeler Dealers. I'll double check the details tomorrow.

terraclean doesnt work

standard cats are 2 x 200 cel per bank

spacers should cure the cel if you fit in the second set of lambdas

yes carbon clean, mine was built up in 4k mikes, not that bad but not pretty

Its the milltek decat sports cats i will be buying, i have sourced a mapper relitavely close who i have confidence in, my next question is will it make a noticable difference and i presume im better off doing a carbon clean prior.

Or best just fit the cat back system and be done with it?

Pretty much the only difference you'll notice is the sound... its worth it for that alone though ;-)

I've got 200 cell miltec cats on there's no need for spacers just put them back on in the order they came off in but un plug them first the two pre cat one have to be tie wrapped up as they fit further down hope that helps

Don't buy the milltek precats. Save the money and just gut the standard ones then get the cat back.

Save the cash for something else like remap

For what i can get the whole unit for inc cats is around the same price as a cat back system, hence why i would like to fit the cats with hopefully no issues, as before i'm not really fussed on a remap if i can help it as gains are minimum, i may just end up fitting the cat back system if i buy it....

An MRC remap is seriously worth considering even if there are no power gains. The pick up in sport mode is immense! Totally transforms the acceleration. Doubt it makes the car any quicker but sure is more fun to drive.

+1

Having a custom MRC remap (including removal of both the torque limiter and fast cold start with SW090) has completely transformed how the RS4 drives - IMHO it's a "must have".

Whereabouts are JHM in the Uk, ive now purchased the full exhaust so, i think carbon clean - fit exhaust and then remap, question does it have to be MRC for sorting the other stuff for the better running, or will any other tuner be able to do this as good? my tuner also has rolling road facilities, if so can people tell me what is done so i can ask the question to my mapper (he's not a big name Audi tuner more Fords and cosworth)

MRC is a long way for me coming from Aberdeen but if these people are the only ones to get my car spot on then i will bite the bullet

Thanks Robert
