best thing i have ever bought!!

Post by malcolm300 » Wed Jan 22, 2014 9:19 pm

no im not on about my rs, but a mk4 gt tdi golf!

i dont know about other people but i got my car a year ago paid cash and have no problem affording to run it although the petrol was killing me as i used it as a daily driver. this had 3 main drawbacks 1 the petrol £30 every two days! 2 dirty, the car was always dirty! and 3 under apriciating, after driving it everyday you sort of forget what a special car it is well i did anyway! now i have the smoker i can abuse that and keep my rs spotless with a full tank of petrol ready fopr the weekends :biggrin3:

Also iv always had fast petrol cars m3 s3 ect, im really pleased how far diesel goes!!! so just looking forward to a sunny weekend to take thr rs back out :bigblink:

I know what you mean, I have just traded in my B6 S4 for a Tiguan 2ltr TDI which is my (her) first diesel and surprisingly good to drive. RS4 can be kept and driven as intended, and running 2 V8's was madness really. Still have the revo'd 8L S3 for dog/Shop/school duties to spare me the full diesel experience.

I have a old 320cdi German taxi for family/dog stuff but used to use my Mk4 golf for running about. Just think it's such a pretty car generally. But now just sitting in my yard. Should sell it really.

I've got a mk4 gt tdi 130 for daily duties too and what a brilliant car it is,50 mpg and can still lift it's feet pretty quickly when I put the foot down (not as quickly as the RS4 though :D) I probably tell more people how good the golf is more than i do the RS4 tho it kind of speaks for its self!!

But they'll just splash and dash, no vectra/Volvo will catch them anyway!

For the 7 mile commute into Leeds centre and running round town to see clients I run one of these through my business:

£65 a month on fuel, used every day, averaged 150 miles a week since I leased it in September, absolute hoot to drive.

When I jump in the RS boy does it feel special!! Then I can go bully the drivers that pick on me during the week!! Lol

I had a mark IV GT TDI too! Indigo blue, great stereo, my first climate control and heated seats! The 150 version. I bought it about a year after the mark V cars where released and couldn't quite believe people where ignoring used IVs in favour of the dodgy early Vs. My sister bought one of those and it was truly disappointing.

My IV starting smoking before its time and the climate control started having the odd manic episode. It was time to move on.

Fond memories of that thing.
