Ipod dock

Post by arkavia » Wed Nov 13, 2013 9:47 pm

Hi All x, I've got an Ipod lead in my glove box, but not sure if it works! Tried plugging various Ipod devices in, and nothing! If plugged in and powered should it double up as a charger? It doesn't appear anywhere. I'm guessing it should pop up in CD/MP3 as a device. Any advice or likely causes would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Arkavia. xx Oopss, sorry it's an '06 plate if that makes a difference! :boohoo:

Is it an Audi unit or 3rd party? Is there a 6-CD changer in the glove box as well?
Try toggling between Aux and Radio assuming you have a RNSE head unit, that is what a few of the 3rd party devices need to kick them into life.

might have to check the coding on VCDS, if its showing a CD player or aux you need to re-code if you have an Original AMI.
Also what cable do you have the runs from the AMI and Blue or RED one, and is it original?

AMI only works if you have replaced the original RNS-E with a 2010+ version.

AMI was NEVER fitted to the B7 (it was introduced after the B7 went out of production), so there are no original B7 cables that connect the RNS-E to the AMI.

Oh my days! Say what? Yes it's all standard as far as I can see, as in the head unit. I've got the 6 disc changer in the glove box and just a standard I pod lead. I'm guessing it has or did work at some time. Does it plug into the CD changer then or straight to the rear of the head unit? Xx big kiss

If you've got a CD changer AND an iPod lead then it certainly isn't standard. Standard was EITHER CD changer OR iPod lead, but not both.

Someone has either added a simple audio Aux In (maybe using Audi parts) or added something like a Dension that adds an iPod input into the CD changer connection while retaining the CD changer.

I picked my car up on Saturday and I'm having exactly the same problem. I have the 6 cd changer in the glovebox with an iPod lead in there as well and can't seem to get the iPod to work. Did you manage to figure this out? Any help would be great and thanks.

As said above this is an aftermarket setup not an OEM setup.

Either it's had an aftermarket adapter fitted (that allows both CD changer and iPod) or it's had the OE Aux In added.

You need to find out what you've got to know how to work it.

Hi there,

I again have that exact setup which was fitted to my car when I bought it. Through trial and error, I got mine working by turning on the TV tuner. My iPhone then played through the car, all be it with having the test card displayed on the screen! Think I read somewhere this is how they are set up?

That's definitely NOT a standard Audi setup for the iPod connection.

Whoever wrote that it was the OE Audi setup was talking utter rubbish. The standard Audi setup doesn't connect the iPod via the TV tuner - period.

Sorry to ask on this thread, would the tune2air work plugged into this so bluetooth streaming would work?
