Hi all

We are now aware of the issue regarding possible MAF failures due to the oil on the cone we provide with our kits.

I am trying to get the 3 stage dry cones of Pipercross so we can get this sorted. I notice here that only 2 cars seem to
be suffering, Ben is getting 1 from pipercross and I will send 1 to Louie when I have them.

I am happy to do the same for anyone else that has had the same issue, we are expecting these in the next week or so.

Just pm me name and address :-).

Sam, the Gruppe M kit comes with a similarly oiled cone produced by K&N filters.

I would be interested in this Glen. I have some air flow issues at the moment I would like to eliminate any problem I can!

Not having any issues at the moment, but I'd be interested in changing the filter before any issues later on. How much would one of these filters cost?

My car was at amd yesterday and my mass air flow meter was faulty..May be a coincidence but,I will be up for a dry filter as well...
Ben (amd) not start button youngben...said you can ask piper cross to supply the same filter and just ask them to leave it unoiled...

hahahaha quality! Im guessing Benjamin has mentioned me to you then? Or am i reading that wrong? Start Button Youngben brings back memories haha!

Problem with using the original filter Un Oiled is it will not be as effective as an oiled one as this is part of the filtration system! This is why there is a 3 stage filter to take the place of the Oiled type we have.

Awesome news from the guys from Revolution and i would expect nothing less of their service! If your doubting this bit of kit then DONT you WILL NOT regret buying one :kissmyrings:

Ben I agree with your sentiment. Both Revolution (Little Glen) and Pipercross have stepped up and sorted this problem. Its funny as I too thought of a "dry unoiled" filter being the answer but now understand the reason for the 3 stage Dry filter which make perfect sense.

Ben thanks for heading this up mate as I reckon a few others will also require the 3 stage dry filters. Also thanks to Little Glen as he answered my PM almost immediately and is sending out the filter in due course! Oh and of course thank you to Pipercross for reengineering the new filter!!

You were reading right fella.. :biggrin2: did make me laugh...

Like you said fella, this is a great bit of kit and my maf problem may not have had anything to do with the induction kit..but the stage 3 filter is the way to go..like Louie said at over a ton a go you don't want to be changing to many mafs...

It's nice to read that you guys are happy with the response from the companies concerned, I may have missed it but who picked up the tab for new MAF's then?

One day I may get off the fence and get one, I'll certainly be asking for a passenger ride at the rolling road day to hear what all the fuss is about.

I had the same issue with MAF sensor failing, caused the engine to cut out at a fairly substantial speed on a dual carridge way. Had to invest in a new MAF sensor, cleaning the sensor didn't clear the fault.

The intake had been fitted for approximately 10 months but had covered less than 3000 miles. Here's the original post.

Yeah cleaning them does nothing once they have gone! I have cleaned my brand new one which has done about 2k miles twice now and still no joy its dead as a dodo! Doubt pipercross will pick up the bill for MAF's if im honest although they may excel as they have only failed on a couple of cars? If i hadnt of raised the issue with them then they may of been none the wiser. Its only because i had 2 fail in a matter of months that i knew something was up or i just had real bad luck.

Perhaps Revolution want to get involved also?

http://www.stokeaudi-parts.co.uk/produc ... 3471M.html

My current one is still like brand new and is a genuine part but didn't think i would get away with warranty as its not fitted to factory parts and i feel Audi will just be hassle. I haven't driven the car since the second one has failed as it pisses me off the thought that im going to have to buy another and i don't want to drive the car on the management light so its just sat there looking sorry for itself at the moment.

Another Ben here....

I too am likely to be interested in a kit if it is comes with a stage 3 filter to resolve the MAF issues - I'm sure the sounds at the rolling road day will confirm for sure, but I can't believe I won't be convinced, having had something similar on my last car and loved it :-)

Hey Ben Glad you finally got it. Was that from Pipercross direct or Little Glen as he did say that mine would be with me this week!

That's good to see a solution as it seems I have the exact same issue as you Ben,

Wonder if I can get one from the guys at revolution same as the other guys??

Thanks, Carl
