I suspect you may have been supplied tyres specifically tweaked for the US market. There is a rather large dodgy UK tyre wholeseller who sells US-market tyres into the UK market.

Grey imports huh? Not heard of this on tyres but would explain it. Thanks for info :)

All a bit moot now as a Volvo rear ended me on Friday. Gutted ain't the word. Just hope that they don't deem her to damaged to repair on safety grounds :'(

Just found out that she is not an unsafe repair. So happy that one way or another she'll be home soon :)

you've got me parnoid now on this as I have just had 4 of the same tyres fitted last week and wheel refurb - did you notice this problem right away as I seemed to notice something wasnt quite right this morning on the motorway, felt a bit like if it was really windy, I rocked my car and they do flex a bit, not quite as bad as yours though.....

I wouldn't worry - I didn't really like mine until I'd done nearly 500 miles. Then they were great. I love them in the wet.

just read this thread from end to end.

sorry to hear about the volvo :bash:

I was wondering if the tyre beads had maybe not seated properly on the rim. OK a long shot, but may of been on enough to hold the air, but not seated properly between rim and 'bump' in perimeter of rim inside.... you know when you're at the tyre fitters and the loud 'BANG!' as tyre bead seats itself.

Tyres being duff must be remote but as anything still possible when you think how many they manufacture.

Do you notice the side wall of the tyre is quite soft though Stu? Mine seem to be and it can feel like they are not up to pressure even though they are 40psi. I've come from contis so it's a bit of a change.

I really can't remember what they looked like. Put them on, corrected the pressures to 38/35 (no garage has ever done this right!) and drove to Southampton the next day (320 miles). By the time I returned home (700+ miles) I was in no doubt they were an upgrade to the Sessantas. I felt the Sessantas were a bit soft-walled and rolly, particularly towards the end of their life so got rid early.
