my dealer told me on friday that the dealer principle had also seen the car.
He confirmed the same as said above, that the car was purely a wheel/body mockup.
Apparently all the windows were blacked out and it had no interior in it, or drivetrain.

I'm more inclined to beleive this as the salesman has nothing to gain from leaving info of the spec out.

He was prepared to take a 1k deposit off me but I'm still hanging out until I know a bit more about the car first.

ICE, you must have a very interesting dealer - Correct me if I'm wrong, but:

1. You don't need to put a deposit down until you spec the car
2. None of the dealers seem to have driven the new RS4
3. The RS4 will almost definately _not_ have turbos
4. It is highly unlikely that you will be able to spec the car until 2005

Don't hold your breath mate... Just keep thinking of the interest the stealers are making from all hese lovely deposits ;)

After a few of us completed the R & D for Audi with the old RS4 model, I am going to let this one take its course.............I ordered the last one and paid the deposit because I was told that they were order only and limited availability, turned out that this was not quite the case......

Called dealer after reading your comments & told him didnt want a RS4 if it wasnt turbo and he told me it was a turbo ! then said if it wasnt i wanted my 1k deposit plus the interest i would have lost if the money was in my account back if they wanted to keep a loyal customer and he said that was fine but he is certain it is a turbo and proceeded to tell me a few more details about the car (some are already in posts on this site) he also said that i would happy when i am one of the first in the uk to get the car (i have now got my order form from them)so i guess i will just have to wait and see !!!

By the way the dealer says that there branch (part of the whitehouse group) has sold more RS6s than any other in the uk and i dont have any reason to disbelieve them as when i picked up my RS6 there was 2 more waiting to be collected the same day.

So as i said i will just have to wait and see

cheers

ICE, did I read that right. You have an order form for the RS4 ??

If so any chance of telling us what it says ?
Or is it merely a receipt for your 1k to say you have an option on a car that may be built...

Cheers,
John.

Yes you did read it correctly they sent me:-
a buisness card
a credit card receipt
a receipt from there receipt book
a compliments slip and lastly
a vehicle order form being marked up as follows by ticks in the boxs
Vehicle.
New
Make.
filled in as Audi
Model.
RS4
Vehicle- special body work factory fitted options.
filled in as spec to be advised
The form is exactly the same as the one i recieved when i ordered my RS6 from them all printed up as you would expect from an official audi dealer .
If i had a scanner i would put a copy up for every one to see but i havent ! so for the moment you will have to take my word for what ive got in front of me.
cheers

? if its a pre order form why has it got VEHICLE ORDER FORM across the top and say it is a legally binding contract & have all the other contract stuff that you get on order forms & as i said in my last post its the same as the order form i had for my RS6 (i didnt have a pre order form for my 6 only the one like i have now for the 4. Then the 6 arrived & i paid the balance & took it away!) :?:
so either my dealer works differently from all the others or he isnt doing it right :!:
i will take a picture with my new digital camera but how do you get it from that up to the site ?????????

cheers

i would think mine is 100% an order form compaired to yours as yours says offer to purchase on the top line & mine says
i hereby agree to purchase from you the undermentioned vehicle, extras, and accessories, hereinafter called the "goods"
it then goes on to details of the car

if it is a offer of purchase form & not a order form why did they only give me the same form for my 6???
cheers ice

ps hope to have sent it by e mail to frank c

Listers also wanted a grand off me for an order, so I went to Beechwood Audi and placed an order there with no deposit. As I see it, there is no need for a deposit. It isn't as if the dealer wouldn't want to get their hands on the car if you decided not to proceed with the order when it arrived.
Any dealer would give their hind teeth to get a "demo" RS4 shortly after they are released.
