Well as I've already argued that the RS should be an Avant and explained why, I'm not going to change my mind. But adding an S coupe to the mix would get my vote - but without that gaping corporate maw please.

Part of me yearns for an S2 coupe to mod - and if a certain owner who visits the site ever wants to part with his gorgeous grey metallic beast ....

Well, I too stuck to my guns of having an Avant.

I have to say though that if an RS Coupe came along I could be very tempted.

The difficulty here though is that the RS badge will get distilled if its put on all body
sytles & models, a bit like the AMG for Merc has.
Once upon a time the AMG was very exclusive with limited numbers of the cars.
Not any more.
Same is true with the RS6 now unfortunately.

Give me a limited production run to maintain exclusivity, help to keep prices bouyant,
and with a decent spec.

Of course if Audi were to offer the equivalent of Range Rovers' Autobiography setup
whereby you choose your own spec then we could have some fun :smile_smoking:

Will I buy the next RS4 ?
I've not slapped any money down as yet as I want to get a better indication of spec,
looks and price.
If it doesn't measure up I'll stick with the current one and be off to see Mr Porsche again :sekret:

Avant - no argument. Let's not turn it into the sort of car the Yobs whistle at. Looks like a lot of hairdressers here.

Yup, I've gotta stick with the RS = Avant argument as well, however another audi coupe is a fantastic idea.

My dad had one of the original audi coup's and loved it - he had to sell it when me and my sister got too big to comfortably fit in the back while holidaying abroad and I've never quite forgiven myself. Plus, it got written off a week later by the ijut who bought it.

Hohum.

The next thing someone will suggest a cabriole, then I'm out of here to hairdresser-cars.com forum.

How about an RS cabriolet...

Sorry, couldn't resist

So far 8 votes for the coupe, but none of the voters have come and posted why.
Just interested to hear why you'd have the coupe over the avant, that's all.

To be honest if Audi came out with an RS coupe as I said above I could be tempted,
especially if they did something like the swb quattros of the eighties  .
Trouble is it would have to be VERY good for me to consider it a true sports car.
The appeal of the Avant to me is its mix of performance, looks, and practicality.

So come on voters, why would you choose the coupe...

Why the coupe

Post by feelou » Thu Oct 07, 2004 11:04 pm

I would go for the coupe for a few reasons
- Coupe is lighter and has a lower centre of gravity, thus better acceleration and dynamics
- Cabin is more compact
- Missus' drive will accomodate the need for lifestyle
- I have no issue with (some) folks thinking I'm driving a hairdresser car, as long as I like the car

I always wondered how people could get so engaged about brands (BMW vs Merc in Germany, Holden vs Ford in Australia, etc.) Seems the Audi world breeds its own little susceptibilities.

no problem with the coupe but dont call it an rs.
why not RC,RTT,SC or anything else.as said before we buy the rs for a number of reasons not only performance,so we are not going to change it for a coupe IMO
previous: RS2, RS4 2.7, RS4 4.2.
Current: S8 PLUS
