This may be a daft question, but is it possible to fake an RS4? Obviously I've seen the replicas on fleabay, and I guess the arches mean it is more difficult to fake. Not having a v8 would be a giveaway too (but then doesn't the S4 have one too?). Apparently this one has a replacement service record book, but was last serviced by Audi in Oct 2012, and there is the invoice for that. Does the VIN give the model number?

Get the VIN number and give Audi a call. They'll confirm spec and give you what history they hold on it.

Then check the VIN matches all other docs if you go to see it.

Also run it through HPI with VIN, number plate, V5C ref number etc etc.

Faking one would not be economically viable IMO. Ringing or stealing one would be (not suggesting this car is btw, have never seen it. But easy to verify).

It looked like an absolute minter with full provenance and I'd have bought it without any hesitation if I'd been looking for a B7.

I've owned quite a few high mileage performance cars over the last few years and as long as they've been looked after properly there's no reason why the mileage should be an issue.
Wow, that it was a fantastic buy for someone.

My advice would be to buy a forum members car. I didn't, but wished I had. I ended up with a car that has taken some serious dedication to get back on track (literally).

If nothing else you know that the car has been well looked after, cherished and you have the history of the car to read back on.
I bought this car - test drove it and I knew instantly I was going to buy it. The mileage never put me off one little bit especially when I saw what immaculate condition it was in. It was at a new car standard in every way. I'm so chuffed I went with a forums members car.

I don't think it was cheap to be honest I just think it was a fair price, I do think given the mileage and age of the car, even in mint condition there is a max price you can go to really, the car was sold as pretty much standard in the end

Do you mean covets? I agree though, there is a price that people are willing to pay - remember the B7 RS4 that was 6 years old with 2k miles on it being sold for £48k odd...I mean, REALLY!

To be more accurate Tim, it was repeatedly advertised at circa £48k, and then it eventually showed up as sold - but I can't honestly believe someone actually paid the asking! :bash:

How bloody annoying is that!!

Nearly 20 years ago I travelled 150 miles to look at a ‘concours condition’ E30 M3, when I got to the dealer every panel was either chipped, scratched badly or generally just neglected, I did ask where the concours car was as this one was the worst I had seen (out of almost a dozen) and that was before I opened the bonnet and noticed the inner wing was crumpled, the dealer had the nerve to say it had never been in a bump.

And it worked. I'm going to be kicking myself for ages that I didn't buy it when I first saw the ad. Muppet. :bash:
