Black Optics help

Post by EuroSag » Thu Dec 27, 2012 10:14 am

Hi guys,

I'm going to replace the front grille on my Mugello Saloon with the black optic one. Has anyone got the part number please? As my local Audi dealer (Amersham) have the most pathetic parts dept and just won't be bothered to try and look up part numbers etc.

My grille has a bit of damage so want to replace anyway, rather than wrap the edges in black.

Cheers :)

Mike, you are a star! Thank you.

Don't suppose you can recall how much I should expect to be ripped off to the tune of, can you?

I think it was in the ball park of £180 but not entirely sure (also not sure if that was before or after family discount).

Full front grill irrc was about £230. Funnily i had the full black optic package added to my car by Amersham Audi. They did a good job. However i never dealt with anyone in the parts department.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

Stupid question but will the RS grill fit the S4 as cleaning mine is the bain of my life. The honeycomb one would be much easier plus want to loose the chrome surround.

I believe the RS4,S4 and S-line grilles are all interchangeable. I'm trying to find a decent second hand optics grille from an S-line and swap to mine as it'll be cheaper than buying a RS4 optics grille.

Although if I buy a new RS4 optics and sell mine it may work out the same cost.

Ah, £180 must have been after discount then.

Amersham Audi are without doubt the worst dealership in the area, I work less than 50yds from them but never take any car there, I once saw my mates S8 being ragged down the A413 and it wasn't him driving but a "technician" on a road test!!!

Amersham Audi sales are ok, Service pretty rubbish and parts are a joke....

You go into the parts dept, press the bell, wait for 10 mins, press the bell again, wait for another 10 mins... members of staff then walk past and don't acknowledge you, you press the bell again, wait another 10 mins and then think, sod this and go somewhere else. Jokers.

I've used amersham Audi parts department once. I don't recall having to wait too long and they ordered the right bit, although it was quite simple (handle / lock for glovebox).
