I know, I know. The thing is I only contacted him for the first time on Monday, so I've not had a chance to go and see it due to work. So email has been the primary contact so far.

Thought you were looking at dealer cars for the walk in walk out comfort? Or have you shifted your current motor?

I was originally, but I found out at the end of last week that I've been allocated a decent Christmas bonus, so I can now afford not to rely on p/x monies to fund an RS (providing its under a certain price), and bring private sale RS options into the mix. It also means I can sell my car privately (and without hurry) to obtain hopefully a better price than I would get at p/x. :)

It does however rely on the other person being there to show me the car, which if he's at work also, he can't. ;) There's no point seeing a car in the dark, so I've asked if I can see it tomorrow.

You can view a car in the dark, test drive it etc but wouldnt do final commitment until I'd seen it in daylight. I learnt the hard way, I was so excited to buy my first car I bought it at night and woke up the next day to find it had cellutlite on the front wing.

However, take it to a petrol station as they have very good bright lights for viewing bodywork but still view it in daylight before exchanging any money.

Exactly, I've bought too many fast/sports cars in the past with my heart, to rush in and make the same mistakes again.

If it sells, then it wasn't to be and I'll move onto the next. I'm buying with my head this time around. 8)

I think we both know the answer to that......

After several more e-mails asking questions down to the last minutiae of the car, KMP carefully commits to driving the 20 minutes to see the car.

After careful inspection with a magnifying glass and high powered torch, sucking his teeth he declares, "My God man, this car looks as though it has done 50,000 miles. There are stone chips and the seats have been used, even the exhaust is discoloured!"
"I shall offer you £15000 and a packet of Werthers for your ridiculously overpriced car, I suggest you take it or you shall be trying to sell for months!"

Hopefully at that point the Vendor sends him on his way threatening to set the dogs on him.......

Well, after asking for his postcode (which he gave) and asking if it was ok view the car at the weekend. He replied saying it would be fine and to email/ring him on teh day before turning up. The car's located about an hour away rather than 20mins (not that that's a problem), so I did the courteous thing and sent a message before setting off asking if it was ok. But I didn't get a reply, so he's either sold it or changed his mind. I sent another email this morning, so I'll wait and see.
