AST Coilover ** Group buy**

Post by Rick_RS4 » Mon Jan 16, 2012 6:08 pm

I spoke to the chaps at AST/german Marques today about the sportline coilovers, they did a group buy last year of 12 B5 rs4s, they currently have a B7 waiting for some as we speak.

Sport-Line are mono-tube high-pressure, coil-over shock absorbers. Damping force on rebound and compression is adjustable in 12 positions. These shock absorbers are adjustable to several heights. Sport-Line shocks can be rebuilt and maintained. They guarantee a comfortable ride and are equipped with adjustable aluminium anodised spring seat.

as above, these units can be stripped down and serviced when needed by AST and come with a 12 month guarantee.

from reading the reviews on srs they ride better than the drc.

ok so the important bit the money

they are £1295.00 + VAT

they can do fitting for £200 this includes a 4 wheel allignment

Image

if we have 5 people AST say they can do it all for

£1430.00 fitted, setup and tracked.

to me that is an great offer, i need 4 more people to make it so.

only deposit needed, lead time 3-4 weeks :beerchug:

Will be good to hear your feed back on this Rick.

Also ref the 4WLA, its recommended to get it carried out again once the car has settled, normal a few weeks after installing.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

I could be, I think I might be experiencing the dreaded DRC problems so it depends what my local dealer say when it goes in for a service in a couple of weeks, if its going to be an expensive job then this may be a good/better alternative

I also could be interested, I have a knock from the rear drivers side and front passenger side which will be looked at very soon and depending on what it is I would go for this.

Yep - have them on my B5 RS4 and love them.

Did you want to know anything in particular?

Only heard of one person (Carl aka H8CAK) but that was due to them being a pre-production set. What have you heard Grizz?

I've used AST shocks on my cars for years now, love them and would always choose them over anything else. However, they aren't a "fit and forget" shock, they are derived from race shocks (AST have a BIG presence in most racing series) and as such as fully customisable and rebuildable, but that means they do need servicing every now and then.

I know Bilstein PSS9's are very popular but if you actually take a look at how well those shocks WORK they are shocking - their "adjustment" is pretty much soft/hard regarless of the number of clicks they have. AST's are proper shocks that deliver proper performance, one every click of adjustment is different to the one before or after, and if the range of softer to harder isn't right for you they can be re-valved and shimmed to suit your preference.

As I say, TOTALLY customisable so for me a cracking shock
