Think of Buying a RS4 B7

Post by Thilly1 » Sun Oct 14, 2012 9:44 am

Hello
I am new here.
I am looking at a RS4 B7 from December 2006
It has quiet high mileage 150,000 km 94,000 miles
It has full service history from Audi.
How many times should on average there be a receipt for brakes, disk, and anything else?
When should the cam chain be changed?
What should I look for,and be warry of?
It seems to be in mint condition, but I don't want to buy it then need to spend a fortune on basic repairs.

Thanks

That's a "how long is a piece of string" question - some owners get less than 20k miles from front discs, some get over 50k miles. It all depends on driving style.
Normal servicing, I reckon a car on annual (10k miles) servicing is a much better bet than one that's been on AVS (up to 2 years or 20k miles between services).

Audi say it's a lifetime thing, but I'd be unsure of that - but it is an engine out job...

A question about the steering wheel,is that a non standard??
I think I found it out.
The flat bottom was an optional extra.

No it's the multi-function steering wheel (MFSW) as opposed to the flat-bottomed steering wheel (FBSW) - the FBSW is more desirable to most people as are bucket seats but the Recaros in yours are comfy and people like them. The MFSW allows you to use the phone and adjust the radio I think - the FBSW has the sports button on it and some lap counter stuff.

Hi Thilly, where is this advertised? It would be useful to see the full advert.

That's what you get if you specify folding mirrors as the RS4 ones are fixed - I changed my factory order when I found that out.

Hi
I can anyone tell me how to find/look at the engine number on a RS4 B7?
I'm going to look at the black one next week,I had it inspected this week.
Managed to get the price down and a few jobs done.
New service
alloys refurbished
new front tyres
paintwork smart repaired.(has a few miner scratches).
Seems like a good car, just need to check it myself.
I will post again soon.
Thanks

Carbon build up,is this a real problem??
How do I check for it?
is there an additive to prevent it or clear it out?
If I buy this car next weekend I will be doing a long run back to Germany,so can I blow it out with the additive and enough heavy right foot?
