Paul, did you see any warning lights?
Still waiting to hear what the cause was, don't know if it can been seen, car was only serviced in July.

No warning lights, car was running as normal, just noticed a long trail of oil as per my first post.

Great timing then! I'd like to think the oil warning light would've come on if you rang the engine any longer!

Car all sorted and ready to be collected.

All covered by my 3 year Inchcape warranty £1800.00 for three years.

Claims covered so far total nearly £4K.

BARGAIN.

Same thing happened to me except I was driving home from Spain. Leak was pretty small so thought I could babysit the car home. Topped up with oil on the way but ran out and had to be recovered. RAC were a big help and sorted the recovery and hotels. Pipes replaced at a local garage in France for €650 which I thought was reasonable.

May fly next time......

Massive oil leak

Spooky Paul. Guess what I had "done" today. No warranty but I put aside cash monthly for the "Audi swapper overs". I only had a leak the size of a pancake on the ground. The joys....

Sorry to hear that Laura, did you have both the pipes and oil cooler replaced?.

Did your oil warning light come or did you just notice the puddle?.

Massive oil leak

Got both replaced. I did mention salvaging the cooler but apparently it's a nightmare to remove the pipes.

The pipes and the cooler was leaking. £1200 or so for the replacement. Got an oil change thrown in for free as it was due in 2 weeks.

I noticed a puddle a week ago (not a big puddle) under my car after a 300 mile drive.

No warning light - just luck I guess I noticed.

Think everyone should be checking their oil more often. These could go at any point....

The invoice they gave me was for just under £1200.00, are you getting the old oil cooler back to see if you can get someone else to see if its salvageable, it was approx £550.00 on its own.

Lucky for me it happened just a I was turning into the drive as I go to the Ring and Spa on Saturday.
