Best place to buy an RS4....

Post by Munkeyfeet » Sun Sep 09, 2012 2:08 pm

Hi All - first time poster here so be gentle ;)

I am planning on buying an RS4 which I need by December (when the company car goes back as now set up on my own) so have time for a dealer to find me the car.

I live in Berkshire and happy to travel to Hamps, Bucks, Surrey, Oxfordshire to get the car but I want to know the best place to deal with - who knows there stuff and will acquire clean, well looked after cars; someone who knows what should be in the service book to ensure she has been maintained and what shouldn't be there to hint at a lemon!!

I also want a great warranty as well so I avoid expensive issues like DRC etc so this place must provide that.

Keen to hear your experiences and recommendations - fontain are one that has come up a few times?

Lastly what is the best cover to buy? I dont care about cost, only that it provides me with hassle free motoring if anything goes wrong outside of tyres/oil/brakes.

Thanks for reading.

In that case is anyone selling a Mugello Blue/Daytona Grey or Black RS4 saloon - standard with under 45k miles?

Open to what options are on the car to be honest.

My budget is £25k.

And thanks for the FON - I now feel accepted :)

Although my RS4 isn't up for sale I have been torn with the possibility of selling it over the last couple of weeks.

PM me if you'd like to know more Munkeyfeet. I am in no rush to let it go to a dealer and get my pants pulled down and I don't like the thought of trying to sell it private, so catch 22!

I bought mine off a forum member a while back after putting a wanted add up.
With alot less miles than I was looking to accept, all the history and in in tip top condition.
So I'd say definatly don't rule out buying private (forum member) and you could always buy a warranty afterwards.
Sprint Blue Rs4 (B7) is now my weekend toy :-)
Tweeked 16v 205gti is my DRT(dedicated Ring Toy) and always will be ! Awesome track toy.

Thanks for the replies - is no one else willing to share how they bought their car and any lessons learnt?

Got mine from a silver and glass place in Basingstoke, I have no intention of ever crossing the threshold again.

Hi mate,
If budget allows then I can vouch for this http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3895807.htm

Fantastic condition, very nice guys there and some nice exotica to look at whilst you're waiting. I thought it was too expensive for the year etc. but by FAR the best one I saw. I spoke to a guy called Neil. Very nice fella.

Bought my Daytona from Merv Hannam in Bournemouth and overall had a good experience.

Fontain are very local to me and are OK but they charge you a premium. Be quick with them too as the cars they get are generally very clean examples and loads sell without the new owner seeing them.

I saw 13 B7's I think and the BHP one was very nice. The 4 I saw at Main dealers were all in poor condition and the sales guys knew nothing about the car. At least with a specialist like Fontain they know the car well.

Good luck mate.

Thanks Shane for taking the time to write that.

I dont mind paying slightly over for a very clean one as they seem to be few and far between at the moment.

What do you think the BHP one should go for? Were they not willing to budge at all - how long have they had it for sale?

No worries mate,
It's been up for sale for a couple of months I think. When I saw it the sale price was £27,995.00. I offered them £26,500.00 and they said they'd go to £27,500.00. They've had it a while and it's only losing money sitting there so try your luck. I noticed when I activated the seat bolsters with the 'S' button the drivers side one didn't inflate very well but they did say they would get that rectified if I wanted it.

They're one of the very worst places that has a badge with these 4 letters on - i, d, u, A :assflash:

But they're part of the same group as Camberley, who are one of the best - go figure.

I got mine main dealer, Audi slough. Service was ok, was told a couple of fibs but nothing major. I probably should of fought for a better deal but I HAD to have that RS4 and i considered the one I bought in very good nick and i wanted main dealer warranty and a little extra reassurance. it's pretty much been solid bar 1x coil pack and a cheap sensor in 10 months.

I think you pays your money you takes your choice. If you do your homework and everything is on this forum then you can't be better armed.

Oak. You didn't get the silver 07 they had up around November did you? Im from Basingstoke and use them for service and found them very decent so far but I didn't take their car!

Shane was the dealer stock you saw the current ones listed? There are two black at the 24 and 23.5k mark - what was wrong with them.

Anyone got any thoughts on the below selection (which you would put top of the list to see)

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4004030.htm

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4110757.htm

Anyone actually seen or know any of the cars

Thanks

I bought my rs4 saloon from boss performance very good to deal with guy called Glen.

That grey one I'm sure is sold as I phoned about that first. But they were getting a black one in when I was there the other week. I ended up with misano red saloon really love it and the colour.

All boss performance cars I saw when there were in great condition and very helpful dealer good outfit.

Even took my car round to workshop before I took it and out n ramp to let me see underneath.

They give an independent 6 month warranty too.
Ordered b9 S4 Avant ibis white
Panther black 8V RS3
Misano Red B7 RS4 Saloon
