Recommend MRC Stage 2 Map! Transformed car......

Post by tom2009uk » Sat Jul 21, 2012 1:52 pm

Took my car up to MRC on Thursday for the stage 2 map.

I have just cleaned the valves, removed pre cats and ported and polished the inlet manifold and removed the flaps and locked the flap bar. The exhaust is standard.

It's also running standard paper air filter and was on 95ron fuel as I struggle to get it where I live IOW.

It made 439ps and 472nm. Doug thinks it would have just made the 450ps on better fuel.

The map has transformed the car, the sensitive throttle out of sport mode is no more and can cope with stop start traffic much better.
The power band is much more linear and having the secondary air deleted makes it much quieter and better to drive on startup.

Big thanks to Doug and would recommend all these mods!

Tom

That's a good result. Have mrc sorted out the "glitch" with the stage 2 map where the idle speed used to momentarily dip. I remember Doug mentioned this as a slight downside to going stage 2.

Also, did you do your own port and polish of the manifold? If so, I don't suppose you've got any pics showing where and how you ported it?

Thanks

Nice work! 450 on standard exhaust would be a great result.

I run a stage 2 map, can't say I have come across the 'dip', when is it supposed to make itself known??

This was about 18 months ago. Was only on idle and Doug said every 30 seconds or so the idle speed would momentarily dip before returning to normal. Didn't affect driveability or anything else.

Obviously been sorted now then.

Hi, I haven't noticed any glitches at all and have covered 400miles effortlessly! I was very pleased with the figures, I think a lot is it with the manifold port and polish which a friend spent two days on for me. He has some before and after photos which i will post in the week. He also thinks he could get that manifold to flow another 10% better with another days work which I might let him do in the future.

Done my 2 weeks ago at MRC. Stock dyno run with broken solenoid - 345PS, 405Nm.
After carbon cleaned, manifold polished, cold air intake fitted, full Miltek non-res valved with 100cell cats installed and Stage2 remapped i got 444PS and 482Nm :kissmyrings: .
Thanks MRC!

Tom

Just a quick Hi from another Avus 06 RS4 owner on the IOW. (East Cowes based) Often wondered if there were any more over here! I've only seen a blac cab since getting mine October last year. Wish I'd known before and that you have Vagcom as mine was in Esplinade two weeks ago to have simple Vagcom job done! Will keep an eye out for you.

Quick question.........

What difference does it make to your insurance having the car tuned at MRC?

^ Made no difference to mine as the insurance goes by percentage increases over and above the manufacturers' power figures. Mine was just under the 420ps mark so there was no net increase in power. And that included the Milltek which was declared.
