Holy <beep>, thats a horrible scary experience, I can't imagine how bad you feel after that. Really feel for you there Patrick. Shame you have decided to sell but totally understandable, its only a car after all. At least you and your missus are okay.

Hi Patrick, really sorry to hear about this. Having had a break in myself I know how you feel and hope you're family are all ok and weren't in at the time? I trust that the culprits have been caught and the British justice system doesn't let you down? I must confess I was expecting a thread like this to emerge as I think I saw the car being driven away on Wednesday afternoon? I was driving through Chertsey at around 3.45pm when I was nearly hit by a black RS4 saloon driving at a crazy speed. He nearly lost it on the bend by Pound Lane but continued at a ridiculous speed. The police soon followed and I realised he must have stolen it. I sympathise with you wanting to sell it and in the circumstances I'd probably do the same. However, I'd take some time to think about it before you sell up too quick. If it hasn't been damaged I might be interested as I've been looking for an RS4 and buying one from a forum member would be my preference. Please don't think I'm trying to encourage a sale, especially so soon after such an event. I'm not in any rush and would prefer you took the time to consider before selling up too quick. However, if I can offer a slight positive ending to this unfortunate chapter feel free to contact me. Failing that I'll keep my eye on the classifieds. Andy

Thanks Andrew, that’s good to know and I’ll keep you informed when I get it back. Police said it had some wheel rim damage and as I’m the kinda guy that parks in the middle of the road and gets a cab to the curb it was definitely the thieves work. Other than that they said it was ok which isn’t too surprising as they were only in it from Shepperton to Chertsey, say 5 minuets (maybe 3 the way they were driving)

On a separate note, you didn’t catch sight of them by any chance? I know they were diving fast but I have another source that saw 2 guys at the train station in Shepperton minuets before the car went and have given a description. Just clutching at straws really.

Game over.....

When I saw the car Patrick it had just the driver onboard. He was a stocky chap, dark short hair around 6ft tall and was wearing a mostly blue t shirt. If it had been a rally stage I would have been impressed as he had four wheel drift going round that bend but doing that on a public road was crazy, and it was pure luck he didn't hit anything or anyone.

Sorry to hear of your father's passing, as you said lucky that no one was home.

Great pity about your father's watch too.

Well I’ve had the car back a week now (lock set on back order for ages), 4 new tyres, 2 new road wheels, repainted bonnet and new windscreen

In addition just had it serviced and MOT’ed and new brake pads (not bad after 66k miles)

Problem is I don’t want to sell it, it’s looking brand new and drives better than before (although I have been driving a loan car)

Looks like a move might be on the way or some pretty serious security measures at home

Reasonably stable at the moment Paul thanks although Val looks on the internet everyday for somewhere to move too. I’m in the process of installing some pretty trick security stuff at home as I have no doubt they’ll be back at sometime (They’ll wish they hadn’t)

I’m in a terrible place Sonny, it’s like having the car new all over again. I went for a test drive in an S6 Avant with all the toys last week, my thoughts were pretty much those echoed in the S6 thread. Impressive performance but couldn’t quite bring myself to part with £65k+ for something that doesn’t light a fire in your belly.

I feel the B8 RS4 might have the same ‘clinical’ feel to the drive but I’ll wait until my dealer gets a demo and judge it then
