I'm with Fab - just got a reply to my 'Letter of Intent to Purchase' the new RS4 and have been told I am No.1 on the group list :) Don't care when it is - having fun with the S4 at the moment. All they need is a tuned version of the 4.2; If BMW can produce 343bhp from 3.2 Nat Asp the 4.2 should produce loads!

I've got the info : NEXT RS4 WILL BE A NON TURBO V8 OF APPROX. 420HP   :?: :?: :!: :!:

Last Friday I enjoyed (together with my wife) the Audi Driving Experience on Saanen local airport track (ski resort in Switzerland). Very nice day I must say. The test cars were the new A6 V8 4.2 and A6 3.0 diesel

At the end of the day I took this opportunity to ask to professors about infos on the new RS4 (those guys are Audi's official drivers and testers). What a suprise when they confirmed to me that the engine will be a non turbo V8 (not FSI) with approx 420cv. I asked for reasons for this astonishing and illogical choice, but they could not give me any reason. One of them told me that he was going to personally test the new RS4 on Nurburgring track beginning of September.

To be honest I am disapointed. But on the other hand I am convinced that Audi can't release a disapointing car compared to the RS4 biturbo. Therefore I am really looking forward to concretely know about all specs of the new version before to judge it. They also told me that the agressive look of the RS4 will be maintained and even more studied on this new version. In my opinion the car will mainly be upgraded on the handling, brakes, etcc... to make it a real sport car.

My only disapointment is about the pure chrono perf of the car. I my opinion an aspirated V8 420cv will not be able to offer much better perf than a stock RS4 biturbo (I may be wrong) and in addition this type of engine can't be chipped easily.

We have to wait a little bit more before to get concrete and official infos from the firm. I want to trust Audi and it's ability to release an even better car than the previous version. Only if it is the case I will then go ahead with my pre-order.

Wait and see

Fab

Sounds about right.... We'll have to see what the entire package offers. Comparative lap times of the Ring will give a good overview of the car's capabilities.
