HI ALL
NEW ON THIS SITE
IV HAD MY CAR FOR AROUND 2 YEARS NOW, NEVER SKIPPED A BEAT BUT LAST WEEK ONCE I TOOK TO MRC TO GET REMAP DONE ON IT, THEY FOUND MAJOR VACCUM LEAK FROM THE SOLENOID VALVE UNDER THE AIRBOX CONTROLLING THE FLAP.
I TOOK THE BOX APART YESTERDAY TO CHANGE THE VALVE AS AUDI WANTED £260 LOL TO RECTIFY,
I REMOVED THE TWO VACCUM HOSES FROM THE VALVE ONE LEADING TO THE AIRBOX FLAP AND THE OTHER COMING FROM THE MANIFOLD FLAPS, NOW I CAN NOT REMEMBER WHICH GOES WHERE ANY HELP WOULD BE NEEDED PEOPLE. THE VALVE HAS 1 INPUT AND 1 OUTPUT, ONE IS SITTUATED IN REALTION TO VALVE HORIZONTAL AND THE OTHER IS VERTICLE.
HOPE THIS HELPS.

HELP PLEASE WITH AIRBOX SOLENOID VALVE
Re: HELP PLEASE WITH AIRBOX SOLENOID VALVE
Hi
I had the exact same problem and the leak was being caused by a crack in the solenoid. Does your car exhaust flaps rattle for a short period when you start engine from cold? Your car will be a different machine once it's fixed.
As far as I can remember it doesn't matter which goes where as a vacuum is a vacuum - its there to power the action of the switch moving the flap once the signal comes from the ECU to operate it. I could absolutely stand to be corrected here as I'm not 100% on this! But I think once there's vacuum in the system then it's ok.
