Ampire DVBT400-3G digital TV tuner

Post by Adam » Tue Apr 10, 2012 12:05 am

I had one of these fitted by vwcruise / hazzy dayz and its been an utter waste of money - shocking software and I rarely get a signal (SW London). Don't think fitters are to blame and the BT and ipod cable they fitted have been fine.

I have downloaded a later software version in a vague attempt to get the piece of crap to work, stuck it on a stick and slotted into the USB slot in the glovebox that presumably is fitted with the tuner. then went to settings/update in the menu but nothing happens other than giving me some directory paths.

Am I missing anything? Want to try everything before I ask vwcruise to come out and check it over (for a cost no doubt)

Might be worth deferring judgement until the digital switchover has been completed in London, see http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/__data/asset ... _3Mnth.pdf

I really dont understand how yours can be that bad, I went to the latest software last year and it has been very good. My only problems have been the occasional lockup when selecting through dozens of chans quickly, and I wish channel selection was faster in general.

Almost Flawless reception though ! I am also in the SW London. if you want to meet up sometime I can upgrade your software for you.

£600 smackers just to enable your existing tv to work? think i may be giving that one a miss, obscene springs to mind.
Whats the cost of some top, say 'alpine' head unit with dvd, bluetooth, iPod control etc? cannot be far off, but then i suppose downside, losing the nav function is a downer!
rear t.v option? or is it specifically required for the front?

Do you get the digital radio stations as well? I'm listening to a lot of 6 Music at home, miss it when I'm out in the car.
