some cameras can use the radar image to estimate the size of the vehicle.
Specs looks up the number plate to see what vehicle is and what it should be doing.

However I think it's very rare to have traditional fatso cameras on roads faster than 60mph so it's largely irrelevant then.

I would totally agree that it's the mentality and character of the UK which directly influences our driving - the same can be said the world over and anyone who has driven in places like India would agree. The problem is how to change the culture. I seem to recall a scheme being piloted a number of years ago whereby the police showed speeding bikers graphic images of accidents involving bikes in an effort to curb their speed. Not sure if it worked or not but i think education should be key.

Having an "E" plate might work but even if i did pass the advanced test there would be no chance in hell i'd litter the back of RS4 with a gaudy big letter!! ;)

A lovely letter was waiting for me when i came home from work tonight - 84 in a 60, doh! I already have 5 points on my licence from a speeding offence 2 years ago. Not looking forward to the outcome of this!

Just a little update for everyone - somehow i managed to get away with 3 points and a £60 fine :D

The system in this country is bazarre. I was caught doing 86 in a 60 just over 2 years ago and was given 5 points and a £250 fine. I didn't complain as I was happy to have my licence and shouldn't have been driving like a tit anyway. I don't understand the reasoning behind the much lesser penalty of 3 points for travelling a mere 2mph less but again, im definitely not going to complain! It seems like the system needs a bit more consistency.

+1

Consistency doesn't seem to be something "the powers that be" understand!

Don't knock it, no consistency gives us all a good case to argue in court if we're going to get 12 points. :ban:
