I may get my local to fit the new discs and pads if it goes this way as i am not paying Audi for the privilege.

Save even more money, take it to somewhere that will skim them and whilst they are off (floating discs cannot be skimmed well on hub) ask them to fit your new pads. Take your pick between Ferrodo DS2500 and EBC Yellostuff, most commonly used aftermarkets.

For what its worth it is possible to warp the discs by spaying them with cold water (i.e when you are washing the car) when they are hot. Did you wash the car with the discs hot straight after a drive? The rapid reduction in heat can EASILY warp them.

Happened to me on my last m3 and also to my Mum on her B7 Audi A4. I used to get a juddering at speed, not massive but enough to annoy me and also when coming to a stop slowly at traffic lights I felt on / off braking of the disc until I came to a halt. Its bloody annoying!

Also and I'm sorry if I am repeating anything others have mentioned above but check that you don't have a binding caliper. This would heat up a disc in no time and warp it.

If you want to know which disc is warped or by how much an MOT testing station will be able to give you an idea by putting the car on the brake tester. If they are warped you'll see the needle or reading change as the discs revolves. You'll be able to see which disc is most affected and hence which to skim if just one is the culprit and also you'll be able to check that particular caliper in case of binding.
