Tips for cleaning end pipes?
Anyone found anything that works well to turn your black exhaust end pipes back into gleaming silver/chrome finish?
Don't want to risk anything too abrasive in case it damages the finish.
Cheers

Thought for the moment...
...if some mindless ASBO keys your car as happened to my previous S4 then stay positive...they may have had a moments glory in front of their mates but they only did it because they're jealous of you being able to drive it every day! Who drives wins!

Re: Tips for cleaning end pipes?
To actually clean them if you haven't done so before; Fairy Power Spray (leave to stand for 10-15 mins and then jet wash/rinse off). The some Autosol to get the hardened stuff off and then to seal them Optimum Metal Polish.
Re: Tips for cleaning end pipes?
I use wheels cleaner (Sonax, P21S etc.) and let it sit for 5 minutes...then go at it with good old steel wool.
You can then use a sealant of some sort to reduce the sooty buildup. I think the one I use was outlined in this INCREDIBLE detailing walkthrough by a local guy. I always use this thread as a guide for 'hot to make my car look great'.

Agree with autosol, but washing regularly with warm soapy water stops them geting black in the first place (bit rich coming from me - someone who hates washing cars!!)

Re: Tips for cleaning end pipes?

Re: Tips for cleaning end pipes?
Did the inside surface of the factory exhaust come painted matt black, or is that a load of tough to move soot??
Re: Tips for cleaning end pipes?
I always use the Megs metal cleaner, comes in a small tub.

Re: Tips for cleaning end pipes?

Job done, £1.60 a can will last you about 3 years. Not abrasive. I even use it for cleaning the silver cutlery that only comes out at Christmas
