Exterior door handle/lock removal?
Exterior door handle/lock removal?
I was unlucky enough to have the RNS-E stolen out of my cabriolet a week or two back. They butchered my door lock barrel on the drivers door so just received the replacement barrel this morning. Popped the door card off and I cant see any clear means of removing the handle and/or lock barrel.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Ben

Re: Exterior door handle/lock removal?
Door trim removed.
Window frame and window lifter removed.
Unplug electrical connector at door lock.
If same door lock is re-installed, disengage operating rod at door handle.
If door lock is to be replaced, disengage operating rod at door lock.
Unclip operating rod from door lock at locking sleeve.
Unscrew multi-point bolts -1- and take out door lock

Re: Exterior door handle/lock removal?
slight thread hijack but can you swap a rear de locked handle for the drivers locked handle? to delock the car,?
Re: Exterior door handle/lock removal?
I would imagine so, but if the remote unlocking failed for any reason I would not be able to get into my Avant as the driver's door is the only key-lock...my R32 was de-locked but at least that had a key lock on the hatch if needed...

The instructions for jump starting tell you not to attach the leads to the battery in the boot, but to the post under the bonnet where the battery is on A4/S4.Rick_RS4 wrote:the saloon has a lock in the boot, so i could hook up jump leads if the batt went flat,
So you need to be able to get to the bonnet release in the drivers footwell...

I recall one member paring their car close to a garage wall and going on an extended holiday... couldn't use the keys as no access via the boot (saloon) and the drivers door inaccessible. Something like that...

yeah i saw that but you could connect it up and not turn it over, only use the jump to open the doors.
