Good result.

Curious though - why would a chain failure affect the spark plugs? surly it would cause valves and pistons to meet which ok might have secondary impact to the spark plugs.
Depending on what chain failed it could affect only 1 bank but if the chain to the crank went then it'd be both.

Broken bits from the valves flying around inside the cylinder hitting the spark plugs.

Agree, good result.

It's so weird that some dealers don't seem to want to help but others jump in and do their best. They surely would all get the same support from Audi wouldn't they?

I believe the Danish Audi importer (Scandinavian Motor Company/Semler) are paying these kind of repairs out of their own pocket, whereas Audi dealers in Germany are backed up by Audi AG. That might explain why Audi is the 4th worst rated carmaker in Denmark, customer service wise. But it sure is odd, if Audi AG wouldn't support the Danish importer in these kind of situations

The car is now back with me. The failure was caused by a rod that broke in cylinder 6.
Audi Zentrum Flensburg has been truly great and has offered perfect service.
The complete bill was 1580€ ≈ 1380£ which is an extremely good price for a complete new engine (with intake manifold and such), new cats with lambdas and fitting. :beerchug:

Thank you very much, nice to be back. :jump_clap:
Still running the engine in, so haven't given it any beans yet IE been past 5.000 revs. Already nearing the 1.000 km. mark which means I can go to 6.000 revs but still no full throttle. But it feels quite a bit smoother and responsive, though the old engine hardly had any carbon buildup.

I was quite lucky that is was caused by a rod. Had it been the chain then Audi wouldn't have offered me any goodwill.
